So; I am seeing a lot of people are trying the alpha right now. That's great! However I would like to remind you guys that the alpha stage of a game is a really really early stage. You can probably look at it as if it where the sketch stage of a drawing. You get to see the first rough lines of what the game is going to be like.

Since I have backed other projects such as Natural Selection 2 I kind of expect certain things to happen. For example; fierce complaining about performance related issues. I can understand this. Some of you guys are really passionate about this game and really would like to play with it but can't for an extended period of time. This nothing but reasonable: you have both emotionally and economically invested in it.

However; you need to realize that your issue doesn't have to be the first priority of the developer (Uber). Not because Uber doesn't like you but because some stuff is better done in one of the later stages to make sure they don't need to redo a lot of work. Performance is typically one of these things.

In short: I would like to ask you all to please remain very, very patient. In this case we are talking months of patience at least. It's ok to give feedback. Please keep doing that. But please remain calm and friendly while doing that. Remember that a hard working individual will most likely read it on the developers side.

Thanks in advance from a fellow backer.

    It runs slower than I'd expect on my i5 + 16GB + GTX 460 (30fps ish)

    It runs quicker than I'd expect on my E-350 + 4GB + HD6310 (5-10fps)

Some of the issues I've seen are pretty amusing, but this is actually far more stable and usable than I'd ever have expected an alpha to be. It's alpha level unit implementations with almost beta level stability (in my experience, YMMV of course).

Squadrons of low-orbit submarines, naval factories doing hedgehog impressions with battleship prows, and teleporting commanders are just icing on the cake at this point
