Why not release it with 2 days of free trial ? just 2 days !! I think that will multiply the initial sales, even with this two free days, and boost the game... more and more people will buy it after this test. Everyone who played, love it !!! most of my friend emptied his pockets on Steam/D2D/etc last xmas promos, lol... and they are not thrilled about buying right now The initial purchase is more important to build a great and large community... i was looking for some great games like Lead And Gold that is empty of players, and they use free weekend promo several times just a long time after the release with no effects !! I repeat: everyone who played, love it !!! just ideia to give some/small chance to them test, because the purchase will be done after it
It's 15$. That's practically free in today's market. Most people shell out 50-60$ for titles now for "prestige" of early ownership. Ref, Activision and EA. I like free things, still doesn't deter from the fact 2 days later your poor friends would have to pay 15$ after trial period was over.
I don't think it could hurt for a 1 or 2 day trial myself. Since the game is tied to steam, it just needs a temporary key system and I'm sure it could work. I don't know if they could pull it off... Also, I'm not sure if Uber can tell Steam, "Hey, mind setting a trial for us?" tl;dr Good idea I suppose it could work.
It's a great idea. Most people think MNC is just a TF2 rip-off. The only way to change thier minds is to buy MNC thierselves, or know a friend who plays MNC, both of which are unlikely with MNC haters. A free trial for a day or so gives them a chance to freely try MNC, and see that it's craploads better than expected.
The 360 version has a free 1 hour online period (used to be 30 minutes) and if steam can do the same sort of thing that would be all you need, really. No idea if you can do that sort of timed trial thing with steam games.
Steam has support for Guest passes (passes that you can give to friends to allow them to play for a set duration after activating the pass) and "free weekends", where a game will be unlocked for the weekend (usually Friday to Sunday) for free, and then relocked once that time frame is up. I've seen/used both of these mechanics before for a game called Shattered Horizon, and they're a pretty good marketing tool. However, I don't know how Uber would go about doing something like this, and if it is a relatively expensive operation than it will likely not occur.
TF2 had it too. We used to call it orange box day. Lots of new players. Frustrating to see battle medics, but whatever. It was over in 2 days.
yeah, Guest Passes can be a good solution too to spread this exactly, doesnt matter if is cheap.. this pre-concept idea prejudice the first contact.
I think a free weekend would be great for MNC if it is not too expensive for Uber. Everybody who played this game for 2 days and doesn't buy it for 15 had humor and fun clinically removed. I would probably be best to wait for a little while after release to make sure enough servers are up and possible cheaters banned. And then we will try to be really nice to new players for a whole weekend. I might even let myself get killed by newbie Assassins. But only on that weekend!
Me too. Afterwards, however, It's back to GobiNumb and Charge Grappling thier surprised arses. Actually, if we let newbie assassins kill us easily, they may come to rely on bad tactics, bringing forth another wave of bad assassin players. Screw it, I'm going Assassin huntin'.
