    Update

    Does not work anymore!

    Hello,

First: I am not a "real" modder, but I have made some color adjustments for the terrain textures (.png files) - the goal was to get closer to the style of the concept trailer.

I have screenshots from the concept trailer, the current alpha version and the color adjustments that I have made.

I do not attach the changed files, because I don't know how to do that properly (I don't want to upload the whole terrain folder - 159 MB - and I also don't want to upload every single file).

Hopefully someone has fun to look at the screenshots and nobody kills me for posting this here. :)

    Update

CA Mod v 0.2 is now downloadable at the link below:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/nduaeh39ox77q ... %20mod.zip

    Mod works for build 50256.
I replaced the old pics with some new ones.

Nice. Could you send me the files, I might like to feature this in a video if that's ok.

DICE threatened to ban people who used a colour-altering mod for BF3 because it "ruined balance"

    Re: Color adjustments

DICE got a lot of flak for that decision, but it wasn't really that particular graphics mod (SweetFX) that was the problem. It was more about other graphic mods that they didn't want to call out the existence of. It's hard to detect if a particular visual mod is going to cause an issue or not so they just blanket disallow all of them.

World of Warcraft had similar issues. One particular set of high level armor called Dragonstalker comes to mind. It was the best gear you could get for the hunter class for a while, but when the first pieces started showing up it was quickly labelled the "Barney Suit".

It led to people releasing various recolors. To use them didn't require modifying any files, just putting new image files in the right directory. So there were Red & Black versions, grey versions, anything you wanted. There was much joy.

However people also started replacing the art for gathered world assets (plants, minerals, etc.) in to glow in the dark colors so they could be easily found. Then people found with the right modifications they could remove collision from walls or add collision to other things which allowed them to cheat in PvP battles.

The result was all mods, no matter how benign, were disabled and anyone trying to reenable them were banned.

However, for PA, please feel free to modify to your heart's content.

    Re: Color adjustments

If everyone has the same circumstances, then it's okay.
When a person uses a mod, the other person must also use it.

Hello Zaphodx! Please be patient a little bit. I have currently no time. But I will send the files or try to upload it. But I also need to check if the files have changed since the last update.

    Re: Color adjustments

    Man... I am tired. :x

I have everything re-done for the build 50083.

We have here some "bad" color adjustments, because you can see the edges from the textures.
And yeah... it is quite difficult to get the right screenshot to compare it with each other.
One screenshot is without sun light. This distorts everything.

Have to go to bed now. No files today. Sorry.

    Re: Color adjustments

    So... big update.

No more comparison. Just the pure mod -> reworked again.

So, who can tell me how I can upload a 44,2 MB Zip file?
And what's more important: Where should I upload it? :?

@zaphodx: Maybe you could help me with this? :D

Looks awesome! Still a bit dark though compared to the trailer. Is the overall darkness because of technical limitations or because it affects gameplay too much?

    Thank you! Done! :)

Honestly, everything is possible. It is just a matter of time. You have to compare, adjust, campare, adjust. ;-)
