I'm still playing MNC and Mortal Kombat, so I don't need a new shooter or fighting game. But I do need a new racing game (either sim or arcade) and a new sandbox. Don't want the newest of the new - I'm not rich.
I can only recommend games for the older consoles(I own neither a 360 nor a PS3). If you have a PS1 pick up Crash Team Racing. Good slide mechanics for such an old game with plenty of levels and enough power ups to vary up the gameplay a fair bit. And the Harvest Moon games are sandboxish I guess. You can do what you want and for games revolving around farming they're pretty good. I like Friends of Mineral Town for the GBA a bunch. I'm pretty sure this wasn't what you were asking for, but it's the best I can think of right now.
Dirt 3 is the best racing game I've played in a while. Also feel free to hit my up for some Hot Pursuit if you still play it. If you didn't get the Most Wanted DLC it's totally worth it. As far as sandbox goes, Red Faction: Guerrilla is pretty good and is plenty cheap now.
Yeah, I still play it now and then. I didn't get any DLC, but that's because I was saving up for MNC DLC... Also, I have RF:G, but I don't play online ever. (And the final mission is one monumental bitch) If you have any N64 recommendations, do speak up. I have one - it's only working at Sainsbury's, but it's better than a kick in the teeth.
Conker's Bad Fur Day. If you have a PS1/2 there are a bunch of amazing games you probably haven't played so you should check there.
Lol, unless you find it at a garage sale that's going to be more expensive than most used XBox games.
I don't have much experience with the n64 as I didn't manage to get one till December last year and I'm still working my way through all the must plays. I hear Diddy Kong Racing is good though.
Taterz, tell me more about this NFS DLC. Is it full of broken cars (good sale incenvitve, to make the game unwinnable if you don't have the DLC)?
Nope, in fact out of of all three DLC packs there is only really one car that I like at all. I can't even remember if the Most Wanted DLC pack adds any cars, what it does add is two to game modes. There's Arms Race, which is ok, basically a race with weapons enabled. Then there is Most Wanted: four cops vs four racers, no finish line, no time limit, open world. Basically it's like a VIP game mode where there is one racer that the other three racers have to protect while the four cops try and bust the "most wanted" (VIP). The racers either have to wreck all the cops or the most wanted has to get away.
