Sometimes people's usernames make me curious as to the meaning or reasoning behind it, so I figured why not get people to share what their username means.

    Mine:

Whoismiked = Who is Mike D

My name is Mike and my last name is Deezy ... which is the nickname everyone calls me.

    What's your story?

I downloaded a PC game that caused a lot of controversy worldwide.

The name of the game is R_p__ay. (sorry, can't name it here)

My username is one of the key factors from that game.

    That's how I got it.

I randomly picked beetle as my name when I started playing TFC - the first game I played where you could change your name whenever you wanted. Later I added the J to be more unique. J is the first letter of my first name.

I used to RP a ton on WoW and some community forums, and was writing up a Vrykul character. Looked up Scandinavian baby names and Surnames and ended up with Ylwa Kvalheim. Up until this forum and steam I'd been going as my other char's names, Lilenath/Lyniath.
Signed up here, couldn't think of anything else, so I used that - Kvalheim

My nickname IRL is Nap cuz it's short for my last name, Napolitano

I had to think of a forum name and I was listening to this:

    http://people.duke.edu/~tmc/motherpage/ ... unkenstein
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noqMfTRKNlo

My steam name ("Alex") is an anglicized version of my first name. I found that most non-Dutch people can't pronounce my real name.

    Edit:

WHY DO I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT

I can only assume that is your name?

If it was spelled Hairy then I could think of some funny things

I honestly have been curious as to what your steam name means.

Edit: nvm, Hunger Games, I should have known that.

    Okay...

When I was much younger, Mercenaries on the Xbox was one of my favorite games. The Russian Mafia were cool bros. When one day I made a Runescape account (it was all the rage among my friends), it was the first thing I had that required an online username. I went with "Mafia Agent", except being a young derp too lazy to use a dictionary, I misspelled it. Not important.

At some later point, the name became MafiaGuy7. The 7 is arbitrary. Maybe it was when I made a Steam account; not sure. My friends called me "Mafia" and "Maf" for short. I had that name for years and years because everyone knew me by it and I hate when people changed their screen names and I can't tell who they were anymore. Finally, though, I just got fed up enough a couple years ago with having the word "mafia" and an arbitrary number in my name to change it. I wanted to be still recognizable - everyone called me "Maf", so here you have it: "Mister Maf".

The people who knew me by the prior name and still call me "Mafia" know how to pronounce it. Everyone new that I meet thinks that the A is pronounced like in the word "mad"...

Many years ago when I used to play Ragnarok, I had an "incident" with 2 GMs and had to change my nick for several reasons - I was watching Bleach back then and adopted the name Shiba Kaien, a secondary-almost-terciary character whose name I chose because I thought it would be dumb to use one of the main ones. After some time I shortened it to Kaien for typing purposes, people were calling me just Kaien anyway. Some time after, when I started playing games with voice chat I realized most english-speaking friends couldn't pronounce my nick right, and were always asking me how to do it. Then one day a friend said "is it like K-N?" and that's when I started using KN as my steam name and any other game/website that doesn't have a minimum length requirement.

My irl nickname was Stretchnutz (you don't wanna know) and so I used that as my XBox gamertag. After several years of using that name Microsoft suddenly thinks "nutz" is offensive text and so I was forced to change my tag. And thus Stretchnutz was dead. People were already calling me Stretch for short so DeadStretch became me.

I was playing Counterstrike on someone's account and the first name I could think up for myself was Outlaw.

And I used hotcakes here on the forum because arbitrary name selections.
