    This looks pretty damn cool!

The large scale battles and castle sieges look awesome. And the sword combat looks very interesting. There's actual mechanics to the fighting other than just "slash slash slash"

I think I remember Chris Roberts saying he dealt with the studio, exchanging information on how to do certain things on CryEngine.

I'll wait for the Star Wars mod. Medieval for me is meh-dieval.

I'm extremely skeptical about any game that tries to do first person melee combat. In shooters it only works because the melee acts like a super short range gun.

I have never seen it done well, and I'm convinced at this point it's next to impossible to do well outside a full VR setting. So many things matter in melee combat that are nearly impossible to translate to first person. Third person keeps you informed about most of those things and generally gives you some control over them.

I'd like to be proven wrong though. I'm partial to medieval settings, although I do like magic in mine.

I agree. I haven't seen anything so far.

However, the snippets of the video actually looked good. Actual blocking, counters, and varied attacks. Not just the standard swing with one arm, hold up shield with the other.

    I'm hopeful.
