No, I'm not asking when the game will be released, before I get yelled at!

I was wondering what the plan is for the release cycles, though. After the first release, how often do you plan for updates? Waiting until beta, doing something like a release whenever something big happens (Minecraft), or something like Wolfire's Overgrowth weekly releases?

Also, how early exact will alpha be? Will we be able to play around with the pre-game tech, mapping planets in the editor and such like Spore's pre-release creature creator, or will the first release only happen once the game actually has the major gameplay concepts in first>

In the past, Uber has done roughly weekly updates.

BUT... that was with a pre-baked engine (Unreal Engine), so their work focused on the Uber-backend, gameplay+balance, and art. I have absolutely no idea how making their own engine will affect things.

Good question. It will probably depend on too many factors but during alpha it won't be on a clock. Post-launch may be on more of a clock, we'll see.
