Hi, just got into the Beta last night- and had a rather frustrating initial experience until I figured out what was going on... Tried to join 4 or 5 games- each time the game would get to the starting screen and then sit there. After a while I decided to open up task manager and realised that it was lack of ram that was the issue. My system has 4 gigs, and this was rapidly being used at which point it never seams to progress any further. The issue is most of the games available (even for 2 or 3 players) are on large systems with 12 to 16 planets. I guess there is a memory requirement tied to the number of planetary bodies. In the end I finally got to play a game by making my own little system with just 3 planets which played fine. I think it would be very helpful if we could open a thread and post how much ram different system sizes take as its apparent not having enough means you simply can't join a game. If this is a fundamental part of the game engine perhaps Uber could implement a system that will report how much ram is needed for different planetary systems so I can avoid attempting to start a game I cannot join? BTW as an aside- I was really impressed by the game once I finally got it going, and it played surprisingly smoothly on the medium graphics pre set considering I have an older machine. My system specs: CPU: Phenom II X3 710 (2.6 ghz) Memory: 4gb DDR2 Graphics card: Geforce GTX 560 1gb OS: Windows 7 64 Bit Also, my map of 2 small-ish planets and a moon took 1.5 gigs of ram whilst loading and less than 1gb once loaded.
