So I'm trying my hand at writing guides and I've decided to focus on easing new players into the game. To this end I'm planning a three part tutorial and I've just finished part one which focuses on the user interface:

Part two will be looking at typical new player mistakes and the building blocks of a good opening. Part three is intended to be a video showing some of this in practice.

Yeah, sorry I wasn't able to be a bigger help with that and for being overly aggressive in the comments, I really appreciate what you were doing with that document. I decided that I was too much of a control freak and I'd probably end up changing most of the text so I'd be better off just writing one from scratch.

That looks great! The pictures throughout really make it a better read and make it much easier to skim through and grab just the parts that you need.

Well for the third part video I'm going to give it a shot and see how it goes. If it doesn't work then I'll definitely reach out to you. Plus it looks like tatsujb is still going to do audio versions which I assume you're in the pipeline for.

I've updated my guide for the changes in the Galactic interface. Also putting together my next guide which covers new player mistakes and some basic rules of good play.

You should definitely include the zoom too air and zoom to orbital options for the keyboard!

They have no keys set by default, I've set them to > and < which is located on my next to the left shift key (dunno on other keyboards)

Using this, you can press these buttons to insta-zoom to the air layer (just above or below icon view distance, depending on that setting) or orbital (just below orbital shell).

I've been using this all the time, because current camera zoom speed is either too fast or too slow, because of the zoom acceleration.

So far I haven't heard anyone speak of these, I think many people don't know these two useful options exist.

(There's also a zoom to ground key option, that zooms way to far in to be able to play, but it might be useful for cinematics?)
