This thread is to discuse whether or not to remove the ability to quick scope in Monday Night Combat. If you havn't seen this being used in game.. Play some more and come back.. Also it's possible to see how to do it on youtube.. The quick scopping I'm talking about is something similar to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4UGieqgUp0&feature=related Doing this while playing really defensive and knowing what you are doing is really game ruining and really OP. I think it should be removed by increasing the crosshair significant while you are scopping in.
I just came up with an idea after watching that video - might have been suggested before...but yeah, I'm kinda new. All we'd need to do is make it so when a sniper zooms in, the crosshairs would focus in at a random-ish point somewhere within their non-zoomed circle. Not necessarily the dead-center of the circle every time. But maybe that's too obvious of a fix, haha... edit: Now that I think about some more, good snipers are hard to come by as it stands. I don't mind giving them a minor advantage...and one that's frankly a bit disorienting. In all honesty, in that video that was posted - I think that sniper would have done just as well if he wasn't quick-scoping.
Don't listen to grimbar, anything that changes his elite style of play, even one bit, is a terrible change.
Little strange to comment then if you want it to stop.. Anyways.. It's too OP and UBER did not attend to make it like this I'm sure..
He's right, its been argued to death. And quick scoping isn't even the issue at hand. Please don't make stupid accusations please, it shows very little maturity. I may not agree with Grimbar at all really but he is right, this has been discussed like crazy and another thread isn't going to change anyones mind seeing as how people have seen the arguments already.
All it needs is a tiny window of delay between scoping, and shots having 100% accuracy. I honestly don't care tho. All I want to get a fix for is the broken grapples (you know, being able to grapple back after any grapple/charge, even launch grapples).
If doesn't get removed or nerfed, just give the rifle full accuracy/power while unzoomed and put a dot there. That's essentially what people have now, but only if they put some effort into it (a macro and tape/marker). If those people can do it, why not let the casual guy do it too? Same issue as when they got rid of the "click faster to fire faster" feature of the pistol in TF2. People were using macros to fire at the max speed, so they just changed it so that the macro wasn't needed Whether it's nerfed or buffed, quickscope should absolutely not remain as-is due to the current advantages enjoyed by players willing to use macros and put a dot on their monitors. Proposal 1: Give everyone the same advantages that currently exist for some. Make the sniper rifle do full damage at full accuracy while unscoped. Give it a dot in the center. Then all snipers will be on a level playing field. Proposal 2: Put a small delay between when you zoom and when you can fire. At least enough to let the zooming animation show up, and maybe enough to make macros feel laggy. Proposal 3: Here's an interesting one. Between each shot with the sniper rifle, make a slight change to where the sniper is aiming. I don't mean change the player's view, just change where the crosshair is. This will make the tape/marker dot useless. It will also force the sniper to re-aim slightly after each shot, reducing the effectiveness of sniper spam. Combine with either proposal 2 or the full unscoped accuracy/power of proposal 1 to remove the macro advantage.
I actually thought about suggesting this one, but wasn't sure if it was unfair. But ideally I had the same idea, every time you pull up your sniper scope, the crosshairs are in a slightly different spot, meaning you have to actually see where they are, move them slightly, then fire your shot. Maybe one or 2 heads difference each time.
2 different ways of doing it. It sounds like you're saying to move it when you scope in, which would effectively destroy quickscoping. I was suggesting to move it after each shot, but stay where it is while zooming. That would only destroy the dot-on-monitor thing and possibly reduce spam
Like the other have said this topic has been talked about to death and it always seems to end up with others not wanting to accept others' opinions. In fact even the devs have commented on it. Taken from this thread: Against my better judgment I will leave this thread open for now.
Sure there are cons and pros for using it but the problem with this quick scopping is how ridiculous OP it is in situations like long range maps used defensively or similar moments like 4:22 in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4UGieqgUp0&feature=related.. Tank was most likely to get fragged but just the fact that it was close combat and snipers sec. weapon is not wort pulling out when you can jump quick scoop.. It's spamming buttons and really obnoxious that it's in the game. If the enemy team have 1 that is doing quick scopping well and dominating the upper parts of the map the enemy team most likely win. I've seen it happens quite a few times now. It ends up with who have the best quick scoppers on their team and mosts. Btw the link to the other thread isn't working or the thread was removed.
