MNC has got to be No.1 just for the sheer amount of time and fun I've had on it.
No other game comes near.

I rarely buy games that aren't competitive shooters, but there are some others that could possibly make this list. I'd honestly just give them their own list...

super mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario World etc.

I'm surprised nobody has listed the critically acclaimed Ocarina of Time, Half-Life 2, or Portal yet. Those three get and absurd amount of credit in the gaming world.

Portal was great, Half Life 2 was pretty good but I never had the desire to finish it. Never played any of the zelda games and at this point I have no desire to.

Competitive shooters is just my favorite I guess.

NFL Quaterback Club '98 was gonna be #1 but I decided to exclude it because it was so much higher than all those other games

In my opinion...

Ocarina of Time was a garbage game that annoyed me ("HEY!...LISTEN!") that was only a big deal for the Zelda franchise. It really offered nothing new in it in terms of gaming as a whole, and I don't think it told a very compelling story. The most memorable thing about it to me was that I worked in a store that jacked the price up to $150 for Christmas since no one else had it...they sold all 10 copies they had.

I never played Half-Life 2. Had no desire, it was not my style of game.

Portal is great and was fun for the 2.5 hours it took to beat it, but honestly it has never been something that I loved in a "I can't put this game down" sort of way. The end credits song is the only part of the game that stuck with me, and then only a couple of lines.

Are those great, influential games? Yes, of course. Are they legendary? Sure. They just had little personal impact on me...

Yeah theres tons of criteria and variables, but it ultimately comes down to the player.

Games like Goldeneye are praised as one of the best, but really it was just a groundbreaking game for it's time period. The controls worked as best as it could, but it was still sorta awkward.

Perfect dark was the superior of the two, but it a lot of players still rate goldeneye better over nostalgia.

I agree with toon's statements on portal and half life

You haven't been annoyed by a Legend of Zelda companion until you've played Skyward Sword. I stopped playing that game strictly because of Fi.
