So I bought MNC a few days ago and I'm having some trouble figuring out some stuff. My K/D ration is 0.240, so obviously I need some help.

Most every match is me and a bunch of other new players against a team full of seasoned vets. It's a slaughter every time. I don't know why that would be fun for either side. It really just encourages new players to leave. But, since I'm apparently too dumb to take the hint, I'm giving this game a little more time before I deem it a waste of money. Now, on to the questions....

    1. I rarely find anyone using a mic during this game. And when I do, they seem really put off by any questions I may have. I get the feeling that mic use is discouraged. Considering this is supposed to be a team-based game, why is mic use so uncommon?

    2. What do the gold circles with the "!" on the floor do? I get killed while I'm trying to figure it out so it would help if someone would just tell me if they're worth worrying about.

    3. Does everyone start each match at the same level regardless of their career rank?

    4. It wasn't until quite a few matches into this game before I realized the "gun charging" option by pressing Left Trigger. Are there any other things I should know to help shoot people more effectively? It seems it takes far fewer bullets to kill me than it takes for me to kill others.

    5. Does purchasing upgrades throughout the match really help? It doesn't seem to do anything other than take my money. Should the money really be used for building turrets instead?

    6. I've been using the Gunner for every match. Is that the best class for a beginner or is there a better suggestion?

    7. Is the first custom class slot less powerful than the second slot, and the second slot less powerful than the third slot, etc?

    8. Once I was shooting the money ball and a voice kept yelling that I can't shoot it while the shields are up. How/where do you make the shields go down?

    9. All of the gold/silver/bronze stuff on the custom classes... What should I choose? I think I have mine set on Rate of Fire, Armor, and Accuracy, but I still get killed from just a shot or two (versus many from me).

OK, I think that's enough questions for now. Any feedback would be nice. Thanks.

I'm also new to this game but I do know the basics and I did get help from the good players.

    1. I'm guessing most people are in party chat with their party members. You rarely see people in game chat.

    2. I think the gold circles with the ! on the floor mean two things, The Annihilator and the Ejectors. The Annihilator is located in the middle of the map and destroys all bots while dealing a little damage to enemy players. The Ejectors are located around the map, and if you are in the radius of the ejector's hit zone, you will be dealt with a great deal of damage.

    3. Everyone starts on the same level as in all of their skills are level 1. No one gains an advantage.

    4. Other than the Gunner's charge, I have no idea.

    5. Passive 3(grey) on the Gunner is a MUST. The Dual Miniguns kill enemies the fastest. Any other purchases for the gunner are optional.

    6. Assault is the easiest class to use I think. Bomb(blue) upgraded to 3 has a ridiculously big radius. Not to mention you have great mobility and decent firepower.

    7. All classes are what you make them to be. They do not get weaker.

    8. You need to push or move your bots to the enemy's moneyball, which drops the moneyball. This is when you can actually deal damage to the moneyball.

    9. Assault: Gold Armor, Silver ROF, Bronze Accuracy.

Mic is mostly used in private matches.

    2. What do the gold circles with the "!" on the floor do? I get killed while I'm trying to figure it out so it would help if someone would just tell me if they're worth worrying about.

Theres a button you press to throw someone off the map (or kill them) and the radius of that is around that circle. It's avoidable if you jump in the right moment, atleast with me.

    3. Does everyone start each match at the same level regardless of their career rank?

Yes, ranks doesent matter in this game anyway.

    4. It wasn't until quite a few matches into this game before I realized the "gun charging" option by pressing Left Trigger. Are there any other things I should know to help shoot people more effectively? It seems it takes far fewer bullets to kill me than it takes for me to kill others.

Well, it depends who you play against, and what endorsments they have.

    5. Does purchasing upgrades throughout the match really help? It doesn't seem to do anything other than take my money. Should the money really be used for building turrets instead?

Upgrades are really important, they upgrade the skills you use, and usually a passive ability.

    6. I've been using the Gunner for every match. Is that the best class for a beginner or is there a better suggestion?

Well, i would go for assault, hes easiest to use, but gunner aint that hard either.

    7. Is the first custom class slot less powerful than the second slot, and the second slot less powerful than the third slot, etc?

    Nope.

    8. Once I was shooting the money ball and a voice kept yelling that I can't shoot it while the shields are up. How/where do you make the shields go down?

You need to lead your bots to it, by killing other teams bots.

    9. All of the gold/silver/bronze stuff on the custom classes... What should I choose? I think I have mine set on Rate of Fire, Armor, and Accuracy, but I still get killed from just a shot or two (versus many from me).

You should go here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6422 it will help alot.

I hope you're not trolling, but I'll take answer.

    1. I rarely find anyone using a mic during this game. And when I do, they seem really put off by any questions I may have. I get the feeling that mic use is discouraged. Considering this is supposed to be a team-based game, why is mic use so uncommon?

Dunno, maybe you're just incredibly unlucky. Add some people from here, we're all friendly for the most part.

    2. What do the gold circles with the "!" on the floor do? I get killed while I'm trying to figure it out so it would help if someone would just tell me if they're worth worrying about.

Those are ejector circles, they eject people from the area, hence the name. They can activated by a "console" overlooking it(Green Exclamation point)

    3. Does everyone start each match at the same level regardless of their career rank?

As in skill upgrades? If so, yes.

    4. It wasn't until quite a few matches into this game before I realized the "gun charging" option by pressing Left Trigger. Are there any other things I should know to help shoot people more effectively? It seems it takes far fewer bullets to kill me than it takes for me to kill others.

The gunner thrives on what is called clawing, google it or search for it here, also your endorsements may have something to do with it.

    5. Does purchasing upgrades throughout the match really help? It doesn't seem to do anything other than take my money. Should the money really be used for building turrets instead?

You don't need every skill to level 3 all the time, but some ARE essential, such as the dual miniguns for the gunner (his passive 3, the gray skill)

    6. I've been using the Gunner for every match. Is that the best class for a beginner or is there a better suggestion?

I began with Sniper, the general consensus is that the Assault is the best class, so try that, but I guess it's all about preference.

    7. Is the first custom class slot less powerful than the second slot, and the second slot less powerful than the third slot, etc?

    No, not at all

    8. Once I was shooting the money ball and a voice kept yelling that I can't shoot it while the shields are up. How/where do you make the shields go down?

Bots take down the moneyball, escort bots to the other base

    9. All of the gold/silver/bronze stuff on the custom classes... What should I choose? I think I have mine set on Rate of Fire, Armor, and Accuracy, but I still get killed from just a shot or two (versus many from me).

I guess that's good, but consult other good gunner's and read some of the guides.

Answers in bold, hope that helped.

Because mic use is uncommon on XBL as a whole. MNC is no different. People just don't use mics, team-based game or no. It's nothing unique to this game.

They mark the Ejector location. You might have seen green "!"s floating around the map; those mark the switches to activate the Ejectors. When standing on a green !, you can pay $50 to activate the Ejector, which will severely damage everything in its radius. In addition, anything that survives the initial damage will be sent flying. It's mainly used as a way to eliminate swarms of bots or to score Ring Outs on fleeing enemies.

    Disregarding custom classes, yes.

That's because you haven't unlocked a custom class yet. Each class in Monday Night Combat has three "Endorsements", which are basically buffs to certain stats. You have one Gold, one Silver, and one Bronze.

Buying a custom class allows you to create your own Endorsement setup for any class you like. Most people run Armor as one of their Endorsements, which gives them extra health.

Oh, no. Upgrading your skills is very important, particularly if you're a Gunner (which you seem to be, from what you've said above). Upgrading to Passive 3 (that's the gray one) gives you a dual minigun - twice the attack power, twice the rate of fire, twice the clip size. You have to have that if you're going to play Gunner.

Other skill upgrades are less necessary, but usually handy. You might check out the Gunner guides in the Strategy and Tactics section for more information - I usually play Support, so I can't really comment.

Depends on what you want to do. Tank has a steep learning curve, as do the Assassin and Sniper. The Assault is pretty well-balanced, and serves as a good introductory point. The Support might work, too, but he has a radically different playstyle from the rest. Gunner works fine, if that's what you want to play as.

No. Each one just allows you to set up a different custom class with a different Endorsement loadout.

Get your bots into the enemy base. Once two of your bots have hit the Moneyball, the shields will go down. Before that, it's invincible. That's why you want to destroy enemy turrets and push bots.

Check out the Strategy and Tactics section. It has a large number of helpful guides on the different classes and how to play them effectively, as well as which Endorsements to use.

    Welcome to MNC.

Thanks for all the answers... I did think of one other question.

Sometimes my teammates shoot me with a big laser but I don't know why. I don't think it's possible to kill your teammates so I assume they aren't trying to harm me. At first I tried shooting them back but later realized it probably has some helpful purpose.

    What are they doing?

But sometimes they're doing it from the moment I spawn. Wouldn't I be at full health at that point?
