I know there is the System editor but I was wondering if Uber has planned to support custom planets where we can place the land/water our selves. It would be cool to make our own solar system. NUKE MARS!

I don't believe Uber has plans to put 'brushes' in, but that is only a belief as I think I remember it being talked about before. Whether they will or not, I'm sure a modder might be able to create such a tool.

They have the idea that you could use a 3D model of a planet as a brush to generate a planet.
So you could create your own.
I am no expert on that area though, but from what I read it sounded like it will be possible to do. However it might not be as simple as clicking together a planet in an editor.

In my opinion, something like that will come. When? That is hard to say. The way PA is designed, it is very open, so it should be possible in the future. Not quite like Supreme Commander 2 where it was all locked and protected.

If I'm understanding this correctly, you're asking about a tile-by-tile planet editor? Similar to a traditional map editor from other RTS games in the past?

As far as I know, there's no hard info on what you're asking.
I believe the last bit of info we got from the devs was nothing more than a brief mention during a livestream, and that was months ago.

I think it went something along the lines of:
    - Yes, it would be nice to have.
    - But not even on their radar right now.
    - The way the procedural generation, was built does not make it simple to build a custom map editor as you describe.
    - It might be something left up to the modders as they open their code up to us.
    - If Uber was to do it, it wouldn't be waaaay past release.

Does anybody remember anything else about this topic?

IF <<<<uber makes an Editor im sure it will come AFTER the game is released and patched a few times.

Jon has said that currently an editor like being talked about in the OP isn't part of their plans, but they do want to leave the hooks open so that it could be done as mod essentially.

Of course priorities change over time so they could still turn around on that at some point.

Uber has stated they don't plan on releasing a map editor at launch.

A mod will likely be made to add this in and/or Uber will add it later.

One of the biggest things on my personal wishlist is "verticality of terrain".

It was the terrain in TA and SupCom that really allowed the physics engine to shine.

Eventually in PA, I'm hoping to see cliffs, plateaus and ramps with chokepoints.
I feel that will really bring the "tactics" side of player decision-making to PA.

    Which brings me to this....
    *conspiracy theory mode*
Maybe this tile-by-tile map editor is not be on the table right now for good reason?
Uber has repeatedly demonstrated a pattern of "not wasting time in the short term" for more efficient use of resources.
Perhaps Uber eventually wants to seriously overhaul the procedural generation, but it might not be anytime soon.

Culverin they don't really need to overhaul anything, they have all the 'tools' they need already present they just aren't taking full advantage of them yet.
