Question about Support

I usually play as Assassin, and whenever i would grapple a Support that had the Heal/Hurt gun out, during mid grapple i would notice they would switch to their shotgun to shoot me.

But lately i have been playing as Support and whenever i am in Mid Grapple by an Assassin... i can't switch to my Shotgun? Why is this?

I play support alot and i have no trouble switching mid grapple. You can also switch while hacking turrets. U must not be doing something right because it is possible.

Thats what i thought, it's possible, i seen it all the time playing as Assassin, but as the Support it's not working.. i'm gonna have to try it some more, but it seemed weird to me.

What up pineapple, good to see you on the forums. And ya one thing to make sure is that you are only pressing swap once. IDK if it will actually swap back but just something to check.

Mid grapple weapon swaps were a glitch that were supposed to be fixed.

I don't think switching while hacking matters since you can't heal/hurt/fire anyway.

weaponswap while in a grapple was removed a long long time ago.

You haven't been able to swap mid-grapple since the first update.

I usually have time to swap and blast right after the grapple, they might be swapping just before you grapple. When I hear it coming, I switch. The grapple isn't far behind. That might be what you are seeing.

I agree, I usually swap after the Grapple or see other players swap afterwards.

Its probably just lag then, on their screen they must of switched weapons before the grapple, while on my screen it showing they switched it mid grapple.

Obviously this is a comment from someone who rarely plays support. So here is an example of a time to switch while hacking:

I am running back and forth on G3 healing turrets when my hack skill recovers. I quickly start hacking one of the previously stated turrets when i notice an assassin headed my direction. Now since i was healing turrets, I still have my heal/hurt gun out but an assassin is dealt with by close range shotgun ownage. Instead of stopping my hack, pulling out my shotgun, and reinitializing the hack just to prepare for the incoming assassin. I would instead just continue hacking and swap heal/hurt to shotty. This is a precaution swap just incase the assassin wants to get a little frisky.

I hope this will indeed expand your bag of tricks while playing support.

I want to say it was a thing fixed in the first patch but just the other day a support player was able to swap to hit shotty and kill me instantly once the grapple ended, I guess it can still happen rarely.

Not trying to be a bitch here :roll: but I can still pull it off, regardless any update.

1. I get grappled
2. Enjoy the view of the cruel animation whereas the Assassin is trying to show off
3. Smile (regarding the fact that I know he/she wont stand a chance when he/she is done)
4. Press LB (the shiny beautiful left button, over the left trigger)
5. I wait for the animation to finish (at this point, I'm starting to get bored, it's not like the Assassin's going to get any kills anyway)
6. I get out of the grapple, my poor Support is rather traumatized after the chocking harassment. But he knows... he's shotty will do the trick. It always does - and it always will.
7. I advance with blasting the face off of the Assassin
8. (place taunt move here)

But OP, to help you out a bit, just in case you did not know (I assume you did know this but anyways) you will not see the Support switch weapons. You will just "spawn back from the grapple" or what you want to call it, with the shotgun. That's atleast how it works for me. Sorry but I can't help you out in any other way.... make sure you have the H/H-gun equipped, get grappled and press LB only ONCE. Works for me everytime.

Confirmed to be false. I primarily play Support and have never been able to pull this off not even once post-DLC. Dozens and dozens of grapples and I'm still using the HH gun when it ends.

Same here, I always play Support and I'm always out of instinct trying to swap my weapon while being grappled. Which ends up with me getting killed after the grapple is over since I had the HHGun still out. Point is, it cannot be done after the update.

confirmed. its a small window of time u can do it in during the grapple. if you havent figured it out then im sorry. if u dont believe me then if you see me ingame then play assassin and i will show you.

Ditto.. I tried this multiple times last night. Not happening.

I play support quite a bit and I havent been able to do this post-dlc, despite many attempts.

Agreed... since the update, I haven't been able to do this. It used to be totally routine for me before the update. I also knew this was coming from the list of changes that Uber posted pre-update, so as soon as I saw it was in place, I pretty much stopped trying to do it and retrained myself to get my shotty out at the first sign of an assassin.

The thing I really miss is being able to Hurt gun cloaked assassins for a split second to see where they were.
