Hi all just thinking a long the lines of the Quantum Gateway in FAForever and think it would be better if this building could be used as a transporter between 2 planets if built on both planets. After all i thought this was going to be the main part of this building in FAForever. Plus 2 built on a planet would mean quick army movements.
A one way teleport does all of the above and also works as an expansion tool, which a 2-way system can not do. Inter planetary travel is a pretty loaded topic, and you'll find that much discussion has already taken place: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=40436 It is generally a good idea to place severe limitations on instant travel, lest it overshadows every other transit option in game. Front line bases will likely play a major role in producing units directly on the front, limiting the need to shuffle entire armies around the galaxy.
I was always hoping for something like this. First of all, you would need 2 buildings, one on each planet... I think using instant teleportation should come with a high energy cost... and the buildings should not be cheap to build in the first place. You would need to get an engineer or ACU to the target first via rocket, then building the 2nd Gateway. Building factories, forward bases or building a Gateway, that would just add to the games variety. @bobucles: Thx, now I have to read through all the posts in that link... Ok read through the 4 pages and there is a lot more to read about transportation and interplanetary travel, will do tomorrow... still the idea stands. A rocket to get there the first place, mid to lategame (eco- and techwise) getting a gate way...
