Too often I see a winning team fail to actually win until overtime, just because they aren't able or willing enough to destroy the enemy turrets. So I have two suggestions for everyone out there: 1. Focus more on destroying turrets 2. Learn how to destroy turrets more effectively Gunner: The minigun is useless against turrets. The split mortar makes very quick work of turrets from long range, making the gunner one of the best for destroying turrets. With juice, you can take down any turret with just a few split mortar shots Note: The gunner's weapon effectiveness is switched around against the support's Firebase turret for some reason. The minigun wrecks the firebase, while the mortar isn't great. Tank: Level 2 and 3 product grenade will temporarily disable a turret. The jet gun does pretty good damage against them. A tank should be able to pretty easily take down a level 1 rockit turret on his own. For tougher turrets, try to push your bots near the turret then use them as a distraction. With juice, a tank can take down turrets incredibly quickly. Make sure to pick up those juice boxes! Assassin: Shurikens are actually pretty good at taking down turrets from range, especially the support's Firebase. Just watch your back. The smoke bomb will temporarily disable nearby turrets, allowing you to get a few slashes in without danger. With a sword and smoke bomb, the assassin can take down a level 1 rockit turret by herself. A juiced assassin can take down turrets very quickly with both the sword and shurikens. Just watch out for people trying to grapple, slam, or charge you. Level 3 rockit turrets will still kill you while juiced, so use shurikens for them. Assault: Sorry, you suck at destroying turrets. edit: By popular demand, I am required to mention that the grenade launcher can destroy turrets, given patience. The sticky bomb does decent damage, as long as you stick it right on the turret. Sniper: Upgrade your flak grenade if you want to destroy turrets. Level 3 flak will make quick work of a firebase, and seriously damage or destroy most base turrets. If you have a clip size upgrade, the rifle is halfway decent for slowly taking down base turrets, or at least helping out with the flak damage. Support: Airstrike does good damage to base turrets, and will 1-shot a Firebase. The best option though is to spawn gapshots (except on steel peel arena). If you don't know already, look for the green circle with an icon of a bot in the middle. It will be near the door where your bots spawn. Spend $100 there to spawn a gap shot, then go to the other one and do it again. Gap shots will walk slowly and fire projectiles across the map that absolutely devastate enemy base turrets. When the turrets are gone, they'll start killing enemy players too. A good wave of gapshots can be the killing blow that finally breaks a turtling opponent. Sometimes if I'm playing a different class and have a lot of money, I'll actually switch to support just to spawn gapshots. Everyone: Kill the enemy bots! When the enemy bots aren't in the way, yours will be able to approach the turrets and distract them, giving your team an opportunity to easily take down the turrets without risk of return fire. Now go wreck some turrets!
The Assualt's Grenade Launcher can take out the Mortar Turret after about 5-6 Shots, but thats all. But then again, its still 1 less turret if that have it up.
You don't need passive 3 on an assassin to destroy a level 1 rock-it. Vanilla assassin can do it if you attack the turret from behind then lead it once it wakes up. You'll walk away with a sliver of health (but alive) if you do it right. A lot of people (myself included) run gold RoF on a custom assassin though. Coupled with silver armor you can wreck a level 1 rock-it on your own with no trouble at all. If you've spawned some gremlins and they get all the way into an undefended base, you should be able to take out two or more. Also don't count out the assault's sticky bomb. Leveled up it can do decent damage to turrets, then back up and bomb away. I think that the assault rifle does pretty good damage to firebases, but someone who plays assault more could probably give a better idea of how to deal with turrets and firebases than me.
PC players just need time to understand the game. Give them time, not everyone on the PC came from the XBOX MNC.
I think the point of this thread is just to give new players tips so they can get up to speed faster. Anyone that wants to figure everything out on their own probably isn't on the forum reading threads like these.
Ah. In that case: http://uberent.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=18 Entire forum section for tips and strategy.
I agree. Assault can bounce his grenades off things as well as hit turrets from really far away. Yeah it takes a few grenades but it's pretty effective.
A Tank deployed while taking out turrets are way more powerful them those just standing there. Not only can they not grapple/charge you away the range on the Jet Gun is greatly increased, although the closer the target is to your Jet Gun's nozzle the more damage they will take. Any Juiced Pro can wreck havoc on turrets, that's a given. Gunner's Mortar, Tank's Jet Gun, Assault's Grenade Launcher, etc.
