I like how the economy is set up so far but I was thinking of some changes that could be made to promote planetary expansion. In galaxy based games, what if they made planets have a pool of resources, a resource cap to speak, that once enough has been extracted from the planet, metal extractor will return less resources or a set amount from that point. So say each extractor returns 7 metal per/sec You have 10 extractors on the planet each returning 7 metal The planet you are on, has a cap of say, 500,000,000 metal Once that metal is extracted, each extractor will return say, 2 metal per second (example) thus simulating the planet being "mined out". This would then promote expansion by the player to then bring their military power to a new planet to gain a new source of resources while still rewarding their previous expansions on their previous planets.
But if I think about that as economy-only idea I want to notice, that if you want to limit resources for real you also need to limit storage possibility, because active fighter can lose game only because one turtle sitting and collection resources in storages. So if you want to design economy changes you also need to think about balance issues it bring. But when I read about planet that being mined out I really think that some random (or partially random) event with time limit could be very interesting idea for bigger scale games. Not only because other player want to send asteroid on you, but also if you exceeded limits of your planet.
limited ressources? nah, not realy. im not a fan of this kind of "ressource pool" where you need relocate your stuff over and over again
It isn't really in the spirit of SupCom or TA to give anything a resource cap for whatever reason, but I as well would like to see this in a mod. You are already under threat from being bombarded by space rocks, death stars, falling DU rods, nukes, tanks, bots and probably various space commanders, you don't need to add running out of resources to the mix.
