So a friend of mine finally got around to playing Portal and has just started Portal 2. However due to his large resolution, he has trouble with the default field of view. I know you can use the dev console but that disables achievements. Anyone know a way to do it through .cfg files or something so achievements are unaffected?
Good grief. What size monitor is that? Honestly would it not be easier just to take it down to 1920 x 1080?
Ok, we'll see how that goes. EDIT: He doesn't like the idea. "No. My eyes would murder me" - Friend of Geers.
1. Open notepad 2. Type "cl_fov *fov*" 3. Save as *wherever your steam folder is*\SteamApps\Portal 2\portal2\cfg\autoexec.cfg 4. ?????? 5. Profit? gonna test now if that disables achievements or not, don't think it will
This is a guy who hadn't seen Star Wars until I forced him to last year. Not snobby, once we did personality tests for teh lulz and he got 100% logical thinking. No emotion, no creativity, nothing but cold hard logic. He's a machine 0_o.
Nope. Played through an old save to check and managed to get an achievement (the "you've made your point" in case you're interested ) edit: Also if he's so Data then why does he even care about achievements? Real robots don't care about that stuff.
He's a pedantic, petty robot. Also like me. Since he's completely new to gaming I don't think he actually cares about achievements. But he will. I know it.
Also it's pretty retarded that using the dev console disables achievements. Sure, skipping maps, fov over ~130 and sv_cheats I could understand, but basically every other command is just customization. How dare I want to change the portal gun position!
