I'm curious as to what the community thinks. Apparently a sniper that I know is totally convinced that his class takes the most "l33t skillz" to play. I'd argue that its much more rare to come across a competent assassin personally. What do YOU THINK!?!??!

Assassin takes more strategy, awareness, and mindgames.
Sniper requires more precision in aiming with a stupid stick. Except on Steel Peel, where a sniper can basically just tape down the trigger and walk away.

    They are both great offensively

It's easier to get kills as a sniper... but just as hard (as the assassin) to help your team win.

Assassins tend to be in the mix more and die more often...

But both tend to attract a player that is more interested in their k/d ratio then the win.

I would say for me the sniper is the more difficult of the two.

REASONS: It is more difficult to defend the base when is falling down around you. Snipers have low health, hip firing the rifle is awful, and the uzi, while good 1v1, is terrible for clearing out groups.

the Assassin can still help significantly taking care of the base

so... harder to play == SNIPER

All a sniper has to do to do well is get on a bridge, surround himself with traps, and shoot stuff. Assassins have to get into the thick of battle with paperbag armor to get kills.

Sniper - Easy to pick up but hard to master.

Assassin - Hard to pick up and hard to master.

This is excluding the objective it's just the actual user-friendliness of the two. The assassin requires the knowledge of tactics to be fairly good with the class. The sniper is easy to pick up and start shooting/killing enemies but that doesn't mean you can just stand there laying waste.

The Assassin, for me, is harder to be "better" at. Though these are my opinions both classes are not for me. I'm more of an Assault guy with a dash of Gunner and Tank on the side.

Sniper: Easy to pick up. However not alot of people use him to his full extent. (Camp sniping ftw)

Assassin: Hard to pick up and hard to master. I bearly see players knowing how to play assassin correctly and do a decent job.

I voted assassin because I want to feel 1337, no really I didn't vote but I'm interested to see what class is the hardest to master. By the way, did you pick sniper and assassin because they are the hardest to master of the 6 classes? [IMG]

Id say yeah it's harder to come across a competent assassin (play with Vike, then come back and say you've met one) but at the same time there's a step up from 'Competent' to 'Master'. Really, as someone who hardly plays either, Assassin's one masterful skill is to run behind someone and stab them, while invisible.

Comparing that to getting headshots in this game the Sniper is harder everytime. Okay, so even I can headshot a gunner or tank when they aren't expecting it but if you put them against each other, it's real easy to stab a Sniper (forgetting traps for now) but really difficult to consistently headshot an assassin.

assassin by far. first time i picked up and assassin i sucked, fifth try i still sucked. different story with the sniper. u can get very few deaths and lots of kills just by sitting at ur base. lame but true.

i see more good assassins but only because so many people play them. ill see 1 good assassin for maybe every 10 i see in games. really a sniper can just freeze trap spam and kill basically anything without being good at headshots/killing

any decent player will hear an assassin sneaking up unless they are already fighting.

Maybe it's because I AM a competant assassin but I find being a good sniper is harder. Well for me it is.

I'd say Sniper. Assassin is easier for me than any other class in MNC, and I completely blow at sniping in this game.

EDIT: Nevermind, just tried again with a different sensitivity and quickscoped instead of hardscoping for minutes at a time. Sniper's definitely too easy now.

Assassin. Yes it's hard to get head shots but that's just one aspect of the sniper, assassin is hard to learn all across the board...
