    This is a critical problem because Planetary Annihilation doesn't start. A game I paid 110€ should launch even when it is an Alpha. Havin an alpha that doesn't start is like paying for alpha access without alpha access.

    I did put this problem in a tracker but it is still there unsolved:

    FS#1265 - PA from Steam doesn't start. Following error:

    “Could not contact the Steam client. Is it running?”

    Code involved:

    if (!SteamAPI_Init())
    platform→fatalError(”Could not contact the Steam client. Is it running?”);

    There's no need to be demanding.

    What can both of you tell us about your installs of PA, and Steam? Where are they both located, what OS are you running?

    People are more then willing to help.
    An alpha game is buggy by nature and thus it is not strange it does not launch.
    That does not mean it should not get fixed.

    If you were giving some more details instead of showing some red lines it might be possible to help you.

    Doesn't look like any of the solutions in there are relevant here.

    Something is making PA think the Steam API isn't running. I guess we need to know more information about your Steam installs, as well as any software that might block communication to Steam.

    Could be your nvidia crd had the same, goto the nvidia settings and make it the preferred one

    What should be preffered one? How come my card can be other than preferred one? dxdiag sees it correctly. My drivers work with it. I think the problem is with steam PA startup initialization, not with drivers or video card. In my opinion PA early access I bought on Steam is not seen by steam as steam app. I don't think it has anything to do with hardware or driver configuration on my computer.

    I just Wonder if there was an upload error. My Planetary Annihilation Early Access is displayed by steam as Planetary Annihilation. Is that possible by some unknown reason, that I bought Planetary Annihilation early access and regular Planetary Annihilation got downloaded without steamapp initializer?

    I had the same thing I'm on a laptop but the only way for me to play is to go into my nvidia settings and make it the preferred option. I originally thought it was the servers crashing due to demand but I had an IT friend look at it and figure out my issue so it could well be the same thing....I hope it helps

    That steam error has nothing to do with your video card. We're honestly not sure what causes it. It happened on our previous games too for a few users, and I'm not sure we ever had a solution for them or it magically solved itself with steam / computer restarts.

    One answer might be running the game via our launcher instead of through Steam. It will at least get you into the game.

    As a warning, that 9600 GT is going to be pretty slow running the game even if you do use the launcher.

    Thank you very much. I linked these accounts together, however my PA early access game is not visible there (on my uberent list) because I bought it through steam. What kind of proof you need (and how should I get it -is transaction confirmation # ok?) that I bought game through steam. My steam login is sokolek and displayed name is GEN_SOKOL. Where should I submit my transaction confirmation number (I need uberent contact)?

    If you run the launcher now, does it still not allow you to play the game?
