I was told (by one whom I can not mention  ) "You're an assault. You don't kill bots." I think the main reason he's given a grenade launcher is so he can push bots. Discuss?

He was given a melee to kill bots.

The grenade launcher is strictly for the grapple.

But seriously, the grenade launcher seems to be suited to the Assault's ability to pester and finish off low health pros. It does make for a semi-effective bot pushing tool. However, I'd rather not play Blitz as an Assault if that says anything about the Assault's bot pushing power...

The moment I get 2500 grenade launcher kills, I'll stop playing MNC for good.

Every class can push bots easily, except gunner. He has difficulty obviously. But 4-5 grenades to take out any number of bots smashed together? It's efficient. Far from difficult. And it doesn't take intelligence to do it right. There's no excuse an assault can't push bots. I understand if you 1-3 other players pushing bots, it isn't a necessity. I was told this while being one of 2 experienced players on a team, while a tank, assault, and support all ran through my base several times with juice. Had the assault been useless for taking out bots, I wouldn't have been able to hold them back until overtime. Thankfully an assault with juice makes you win a match right?

Glauncher is for attacking snipers or enemies on the other side of the map. It is also used for hitting the moneyball.

It can be used to take out turrets and bots but quote "Im a money ball kind of guy"

Good use of the Gl would be shooting players on the other side of the map on g3 or the alley doors of steel peel etc.

Its kind of like the explosive shot and does do splash damage.

So every one is in full agreement that the assault shouldn't push bots? Interesting. I always prioritize bots no matter what class I play. I'm sure when people see a gunner bouncing around mortaring bots, they just set the controller down and walk away. But honestly, I always try to keep an eye on both bot lanes and make sure that they are being pushed in. My K:D doesn't factor into me enjoying the game. I like to escort bots, try to take out people interfering, and juice on turrets if there are any.

It really depends on the situation I guess. When playing Assault solo in a Public lobby, I try to push the entire map. I (try to) kill whatever gets in my way as I push forward. If I notice my Assassin is doing her job and pushing bots, I somewhat ignore the lanes and try to kill the pros that are making her job more difficult.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Assault's best trait is his ability to multitask. He can kill pros with relative ease and can hold bots back if need be, but if you plan on pushing bots, you really should be playing Assassin or Tank.

I won't tell you you're playing the game wrong if you sit back and GL bots, but if you wanna play Blitz, well, you know where the Blitz game mode is. ;)

When in pubs, I don't act like a **** to new players (juice on them constantly, taunt after every kill, talk trash saying how bad they are). Hell, if an enemy has a black bar above them and their running to their base, 7/10 I'll let them go unless they have juice.

I'm a nice and fair person.

The assault is the most flexible class (besides the assassin ;) ) and is easily capable of pushing bots, taking out turrets, killing pros, and demolishing a moneyball with ease. The assault can do just about anything (for the record, just talking about public matches). I touched up on the whole "if someone is already pushing bots efficiently" issue, but even then, who's to say they wouldn't appreciate the help. I feel it is simply the more decent thing to do. I get killing pros is important to an extent, but juicing up to kill them while they're in their own base isn't helping regardless of what class you are.

So you're basically saying 'Go where you're needed most.'

I can agree with that. In fact, that's exactly how I play.

    Very true. :)

Anyway, to expand on my original point of being capable of pushing bots but not the ideal class, if you find yourself consistently killing robots just to keep your shields up, you're just delaying a loss. You really need to start killing the people who are killing your bots as well as the people who are killing your teammates. Typically, if the enemy bots are winning it is because your team is getting out-slayed. DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN - that's when people start juice chaining on you and your team.

From my experience, the juice chaining begins when the assault (usually) has at least 500$, and little morals. haha

This is true, but not the whole truth. Where do you suppose he got all that money after upgrading Passive 2, Charge 2 and Bomb 3 (that's $850 in cash before the $500 for juice)?

Probably from slaying your team and getting kill-streak bonuses. You need to stop that from happening. If you over extend for a kill on that player before he gets to 8-X-0, you team stands a much greater chance of winning - or at least surviving 'til OT.

I understand that logic, but with a tank support and assault wanting me dead once i exit my "safe area" had little I could do offensively other than chuck an occasional bomb. Head crabs are fun

I only retreated into my actual spawn area when there's a juiced player charging me with a hard-on. I was pushing bots out from the main bridges of LaserRaser.

I forgot that this topic was apparently spawned from a particular incident.

Please elaborate and I'll tell you if I agree with you. As if it matters if I agree with you.

Please keep the person who told you that you were playing wrong anonymous.

I'm pretty sure Anastatius said you shouldn't push bots with Gunner!

This is actually funny to me because I was going to make a topic about multitasking in pubs because you can't always rely on your teammates...
