It's rare, but sometimes I find myself in a Game or Lobby with a less than awesome person. It'd be nice if we could rate people based on how rude/friendly/ragequitty/abandony they are. A single vote would need to have little impact, but many votes should give us an idea of what to expect. What do you guys and gals think?
Ah yeah that's true. Maybe it would work then- I've seen a few forums do this. Only down side then is a *few* people will probably compete to get the most down-votes possible (mind I guess the system would still serve it's purpose to allow you to avoid said individuals)...
I like a player rating system .... but nothing with user comments but more like how many games has the person played, how many time did he win / lose, how often did he discconect while in a running session. Player based comments only open the option to do bad stuff with it.... what if you win against someone in a clan and he tells all his buddies to vote you bad ?!
I like the idea, but I think it should focus just on the player's behaviors and not his skill level. (I know you didn't say anything about skill levels, but I think it's important to leave them out.)
I like the idea of such a system, but I'm rather concerned about the possibility of exploitation and hurting legitimate users. I like @aixem's idea about having it more based on how many games the person has played, how many times he's disconnected, and how many times he's been blocked by other players. I dunno. I just don't want it to become a new tool for trolls.
You could just have it go 1 way - kind of like youtube comments. If you liked playing with them, give them a thumbs up, if not, then don't... I don't really see the whole point of the entire system though.
i agree with brian a rating system should be rather statistical in reading what a player realy does ... player voting isnt all too acurate and prone to bias ... player reviewing is also subjektive ... at best add something like if a player played well/was a challange/ fun to play with and/or was he very bad mannered during the match as anwers a simple yes or no ...
even then you could copy FAF's system which uses some combined geolocalisation with IP and hidden unremovable files to ascertain you are the same person and keep you from creating another account.
Somethin like the honor system from LoL, which nobody uses? I dont trust a system that doesnt depend on numbers and facts alone, way too often u would get bad votings only because you beat somebody
Ehhhhhhhh no. Some less-than-awesome people could use that and down-vote the player who wins. It's just way too easy to abuse. I'm still on the side of putting in a report and ban/mute system. If someone's a d-bag in the chat he gets muted for a day, if someone ups his eco pre-game he gets banned for a day, repeat offenders get larger and larger punishments, if lesson is never learned administer the perma-ban/mute (on the account since IP bans are useless) And of course, players can appeal here on the forums to have permanent/long bans taken off early.
I've seen a lot of DOTA players complain that the commendation feature is stupid, and from what I've seen out of it (never played DotA) it is really stupid. It's pretty much a "like" system. That stuff belongs on forums, not in-game.
Kay I suppose not. I still like the idea of some sort of reputation system, but I agree it would be very easily abused.
Some years ago, I was a regular on an MMORPG's official forum which had a reputation system based on likes and dislikes. (Basically the like count we have, but it also counted dislikes) Sooo... long story short: There was this guy who once killed off a person in a PvP zone, said person was from a very big clan. So what happened after... the entire clan ganged up on this unfortunate dude, and gave dislikes on all of his posts... as his negative likes stocked up, it quickly became a trend among forum users to dislike that guy's posts. Eventually, he reached a negative like count of something like -1500, when the moderators finally stepped in, and disabled the entire like system on the forum. This is why I voted "Nope"
