    Hi, I have some questions/ideas

As its known planets will have diferent size. First think that pops up is difference in gravity field strenght.
For example in kickstarter video we can see unit cannon installed on moon base and firing at planet surface. Will be possible build such weapon only on lunar base or anywhere? Also in second case what about planets which are supoused to have high-gravity there will be greater energy needs in order to fire that kind of weapon or cannon will be just unable to fire between planest and have ussage to lets say suborbital deployment to far side of same world.
This question also goes with all projectile based weapons. Will they range been extended on smaller sized planets?

Second think that crossed my mind is atmosphere. If will provides some noticable protection against interplanetary projectiles, rubble form destroyed asteriods or makes orbital assaults more difficult. In short if that also becomes one of stretegic aspect when players will choose planets for their bases.

Last one is about asteroids bombs. Specialy ways of defense againt it. There will be smashing by missile, hitting by own moving asteroid, landing operation on asteroid surface in order to alter course and destroing thrusters or just sending some mechanilac Bruce Willis :)

    Thats all (atleast for now)
Maybe its more like subject for discussion

Except for atmospheric friction barriers, all your questions have been run through the ringer several times already.
You may want to use this handy search guide :D

As to whether the atmosphere can protect you against minor asteroid strikes you need to ask yourself; Is it fun for the attackers KEWs to disintegrate before impact... and is it fun for you to watch them burn up and do nothing?

My answer would be "No". I think the idea is that KEWs will all have sufficient mass to be largely unaffected by the Atmosphere... Otherwise, what was the point?

If the asteroid isn't big enough to breach the atmosphere and whack the planet, it certainly will be after building a few gigantic space engines.

Orbital play is probably the least developed aspect of PA right now. It's a fairly new addition to RTS, so it'll take a lot of testing to figure things out.

I am, confused are nukes going to be a big defense against kinetic bombardment? In the kick starter video red used three nukes on the asteroid and it still ruined the planet.

I'm pretty sure the gravity will affect how far some weapons can fire.
It did in TA, didn't it? With artillery and stuff.

    Just to chime in here.

I think a "Visual" effect on the asteroid entering the atmosphere would be pretty slick showing bits burning up or breaking off. Especially if said asteroid was fractured due to anti-roid nukes as shown in the promo video.

Having the artistic effect of parts burning up in the atmosphere would really be a nice touch.

Now if they were to add physics to actually determine the mass of the fractured pieces of the roid and the thickness of the atmosphere of the planet and the mass, then yeah it would be cool if parts burned up reducing damage overall as this is exactly what the anti-roid nukes are trying to achieve to limit damage.

Although it really depends on the size of the rock

Is it allot of work? hell yes... But we have so much time with a development team that care about our inputs so never say never. Plus modding could achieve this down the line in full release.
