Shouldn't the devs extend the deadline!?! It took over 8 years to make Starcraft 2. Hardcore fans want a full, complete game. Not a RUSHED one.

I am starting a petition to demand an extension of the deadline. Give these sleep deprived game devs the time they need to make a game that lasts the ages, just like TA, which became immortalized in the hall of fame.

Please write "I agree" to sign the petition

Really all it'll depend on is how much money they get through kickstarter. If they exceed expectation I'm sure they'll be able to afford a longer development cycle.

You have to understand they spent quite a lot of time and effort into their singleplayer campaign and story. Every single mission was very unique and different to the one before it. Given that a large overarching story was woven into the singleplayer campaign that had continued from the original starcraft, and is supposed to carry on to two other games, I was not surprised that it took 8 years to develop, not to mention three very distinct races that had to be balanced. That takes a lot of time and money. Even if Uber reaches their goal, they still have limited resources of both.

Also Blizzard get $80m a month from World of Warcraft subscriptions. Trying to use them as a comparison point for gaming in general is like asking why your fishing boat needs diesel when the US Navy have submarines that run off fission reactors.

NEVER use Blizzard in any kind of comparison, they are in a league of their own in ALL respects.

That's not how real life works, more time =/= a better game. Better People make Better Games. Also consider Everyone at Uber is payed for their time, you can't extend the timeline without it afecting the budget.

And to top it all off, it's not a FINAL Deadline, if you look at all the Reward Levels, they all say EST. Delivery Time: July 2013 Because they're not doing a Big retail release they don't have to commit to a Date months and months in Advance, they can kind of play it by ear for a bit and once they get a better feel for the project they can give us a better estimation.

I doubt blizzard worked with a full dev team full time for 8 years on sc2. Who knows when they actually started. Plus they wasted so much time on Singleplayer-relevant stuff :p

Actually, for most of Starcraft 2's development time, they had a very small team working on it- sometimes, just one guy. In addition, Starcraft 2 has much that PA won't have and won't have to spend time developing.

I'm not a professional, but I'm pretty sure it reduces the final quality of the game, if some devteam members are starving to death because they can't afford food anymore.

Starcraft 2 also cost ever so slightly more than $900k to make, like several million more than that. If you guys want to give us a hundred million to make Planetary Annihilation we'll happily work on it for 8 years.

And Honestly i am not sure if a long devtime is always a good idear.... companys start to get strange idears then like "Hey! Let us split the Campaign into 3 different Games to tripple the money and create a big Fanshop to double the trippled money!" Jirks.

I quite like the idea of a fishing boat run from a nuclear reactor, at least the fish you are trying to find would glow
