I have read the 'Galactic War' will be a 'upper game'. So you will select two planets to fight - or something like that - and the game begins. But what's about a 'real real-time Galactic War' ? I think it could also be funny, if there are 2 teams, 3 players each team and each team is on an own planet (each player on its own planet or all players in the team on the same planet) in a solar system. Now they are able to flight to other planets to build buildings there or just get more resources. There are lots of ideas, what a player could do. If there still was a thread or answer about this topic - I'm Sorry !
All information points to no. Here are several topics already under discussion. #1, #2, #3, #4, #5. --- It's worth noting that several "Solar Systems" within the same map are not yet confirmed, nor denied by Neutrino... But the Galactic War is looking unlikely as a multiplayer experience. If new information has come to light from Neutrino about it... I am unaware of its existence. The reason for such a lack of information is because Uber themselves don't know what they'll implement yet. Iterative design generates information only when it is relevant to what Uber is working on right now.
And since, unlike other people, i read the original post carefully, i'd answer with: I assume you've misunderstood what the galactic war is, as what you are describing is the basic premise of the game for team matches... -- Note how he speaks of a solar system, so he means multiple planets in one system which is confirmed as being a part of the base game, it just has nothing to do with the galactic war... -- On a second thought, he may have meant multiple solar systems, it's a bit ambiguous, so if you'd care to clarify fellowplanet...
I understood the 'Galactic War' as a "game in the game" like a round based game 'Galactic War' in which you start a 'PA game' in each round. Not sure if will be completely different  I just like to play PA on a solar system with some planets, so I was not sure if PA only will be a game on one single (big) planet or lots of different planets. And yes - more than one solar systems or bigger "maps" would be funny, too.
Which is exactly how I understood his first post. I do not believe my answering post is incongruous, guzwaatensen. There is no indication of a "real-time" Galactic War from any source that I know of. Planetary Combat within a Solar System on the other hand, is the whole POINT of Planetary Annihilation. I assumed the OP was aware of this fact.
It will be interesting to see what the devs do with Galactic War. Very excited about it, either way! If it is something more like DOW Soulstorm (each solar system is a separate battle that takes place and then you go back to the galactic view after the fight is over), it might be fun if there was some form of continuation from sector to sector, some benefit of winning a fight other than just the fact that you are one step closer to control of a sector. In Soulstorm, you got bonuses of different starting units and things of that nature. Could be something to consider for this type of GW setup.
Actually one normal game is going to encompass (most likely) one solar system with an orbital layout that is highly customizable , so multiple planets in a game are a definite possibility, however if you plan on 40 players all having their own planet you might strain the system to it's limits, or not, depends entirely on scalability of the engine. The galactic war on the other hand is more of a meta game, where you fight for a whole galaxy. You could few it as a fancy map selector as you are going to chose a solar system to fight for and then play a standard game in this system. Though fancy map selector probably will not do the finished version justice... -- There's not much a second solar system can add to a game that can not be done in one though, except complexity of course. There was nothing in his post to support this hypothesis, however my initial quip generated the expected result ;-)
