From what I've witnessed and heard from a number of people I still play other games with, alot of people don't enjoy pubs much anymore because 1-2 games in and you're already bored, and most have exercised every possible antic for humor's sake.

However, most agree they would still do PMs if one were to get started when they were on, but not quit another game or drop everything they are doing for hours a day 5-6 days a week like it used to be. I'm curious as to how many people would still be up for them once in awhile, maybe 1-2 a week, more or less depending on interest. A thread like this is good to create overall awareness for the few PM starters to take advantage of opportunities when a number of people are on rather than assume nobody cares

This being said, the few and far in between we have done since they regularly ended have been relaxing, fun, and zero animosity, as it should be. I'm hoping by NOW that everyone FINALLY has anything to "prove" out of their system and we can all just enjoy some games of MNC without lobbies full of 1-30 face stabbing no-armored assassins

All are welcome, not just past players

Lets see some names, and here's to squeezing a little more fun out of MNC, cheers

I'd do it if we agree upon dates and times.

have you seen any names lately who would be able to hold their own?

I've only played a couple matches and I mostly see random old faces like Deth Jester or Mechromancer. Neither of which I believe are too interested in privates.

I ran into shapeuporshipup and he played a decent assault except for the fact that he hid on his ring and was protecting his K/D.

That's the only issue I might have with newer players. It might be hard to break them from their K/D habits long enough to try and win the game. Someone like OnTheNightShift could have been a decent PM sniper but his playstyle wouldn't benefit the team. Think almost like Jraw from back in the day.

Pretty decent Assault, but he's from France or some sh*t so... Le language' barrierre'.

Not that it matters much, but he made ol' Rusty hide in his spawn after going 6-7 with an OD tag.

Nobody left except the pubstompers and the people too dumb to know they're being stomped.

    Wonder who predicted that?

That's how the game has always been, generally speaking. Last few games I played weren't too bad until Huevos joined with his +600% accuracy Sniper.

    +600 ping sniper.

See, the private match community got a lot of hate for it's attitude or what not, but got no credit for actually helping public lobbies. Are you trying to have fun or are you trying to compete? Well if you're trying to have fun would you rather be in a lobby with 4-5 try hards who are just juice chaining? Or would you rather us take them and throw them in a balanced lobby with other competitive players?

Now that private matches are dead, and theres no reason to keep a clean name, the only thing left to do is pub stomp and juice chain.

I feel like the cause of a lot of that hate was simply perspective. People that play in private matches play differently than those that play in pubs. Because of that, there were different views on what made a player "good." Private match players knew they were good at what they did, and didn't see something like juice chaining all match as skillful. This was the other way around for pub players.

But to be fair, pubs have always been about pub stomping and juice chaining.

No fear tank is the new wave of the future in pubs. You heard it here folks, get a hold of me to hop on the wave!

I can see why pub players might mistake juice chaining as skill, since all they're left with is a view of the leaderboards and that persons high K/D.

what made a player good in private matches was mostly the ability to communicate and listen, rather than have nasty accuracy. I enjoyed running assassin with feedles tank because despite the terrible stats we put up, we still took the ball down while getting outslayed in the spawn.

I don't think the attitude of the PM community helped, but still. I think it got a lot of hate, when in reality we were doing the pub games a favor by removing ourselves from them, and dedicating one lobby to all the try hards, letting the casuals enjoy their game.

That doesn't stop certain players who refuse to play PM's and only juice chain pubs on host. That killed the community more than anything.

PM players were the ones who thought they might be good and were willing to try and prove it using an agreed upon standard. Pub stars were the ones who thought they might be good but did not feel a need to prove it because they judged themselves by their own standard. Which is better? Who cares, it's subjective so just have fun.

what is objective is the fact that 12 players of high caliber left public lobbies to try hard in their own private lobby.

I'm not arguing about which took more skill, although you already know my opinion on that.

You are definitely right - it took a large group of some of the most aggressive and competent players out of public matches. Not the only ones who were good, and maybe not always the best alone but strong group players. A PM team can usually outplay a pub team even if the PM team has individually weaker players. Again though "outplay" depends on how you decide what matters.
