Peewee's in PA, is it possible?

(Almost) every TA player here wants it, Peewee's (and other TA units) in PA.

My question: is it even possible to have Peewee's in one form or another or will this cause problems with Atari (holding the rights to TA)?
Is it possible maybe with a different name or slightly different looks? Or will we have to wait until someone makes a mod for them?

To be honest I'd rather see a brand new unit set as stock. It's a new game with some fresh mechanics, it follows the spirit of TA but I don't want to feel like I am literally playing TA. There's TA for that, after all.

It would be nice for someone to make a TA unit set mod but I don't think the core game should feature this (or if it does, just 1-2 iconic units, and tactful).

I agree on the new units set for players.
My idea on the TA units would be occasionally finding groups or lonely TA units still on a planet as a leftover from the past wars. But for this to be even possible... well see the question in the first post.

    How is that possible?

From my understanding PA is in a completely different "universe of existence" than TA.
I've heard Uber Entertainment doesn't own the TA franchise and are not allowed to use the story or names from that game.
PA can still have the feel of TA but it can't have any names or units from TA.

Simliar to Supreme Commander. It had more or less the feeling of TA but it had its own "universe of existence".

I can of course be wrong

    Easteregg?
And I'm not asking the devs to put TA units in PA, I'm just asking if it's possible.

    So the answer is no?

Atari owns TA along with its story and units.
You can't add something you don't own.
I guess it would be possible but the units in PA can't have the same names as in TA.

Otherwise I think the answer would be "no". Unfortunately.
I would like to see a few TA units or simliar ones too. But I look forward to the brand new stock of PA units as well.

Since this game will be moddable in so many ways possible (according to interviews) I think it won't be long until someone releases a TA unit pack or a complete TA convert mod.

But CAN they copyright the units? Is a tank called "stumpy" or "flash" really copyright-able? I think Krogoth is the only unit who's name isn't straight from the dictionary. So yeah, they can't make the unit visually identical, but that would be silly anyway given the graphic advances since TA.

If the rights to Total Annihilation were owned by Apple, this project would have been crushed a day into the Kickstarter. Let's be grateful Atari aren't such massive twats and not push it too far.

    Of course it's possible.

Turning PA completely into TA is possible.

It will just need the modding community to do it. Uber cannot. Even if it's just a question of money. It's not in the budget to start buying licenses.

i guess a form of a peewee will be in, not the same. The big bertha will be in too, a form of her... (I freaking wish for a big bertha, which shoot from one planet to another.. )

Looks like someone doesn't understand the difference between copyright and patents.
