I know, it's a great idea and it needed so much. Alright, so we need a pause button in ranked. I have had so many game where I need to pause just for a minute because of an accident and most of the opponents I play wouldn't mind a pause if needed. I know what some would say "what about trolls" and "but it makes it unofficial". I have the solution to these. 1. We should make it a timed pause so that in a game you only get 5 minutes a game. 2. It wouldn't be official with a pause. Well 1v1 players, how many times have you lost a game to someone and lost many ranks because you couldn't pause. I rest my case. If you have any questions please let me know. - Smithy
This would be a great feature @smithforce4305 - but how to implement it? I think there needs to be: 1) a mutually agreed upon maximum amount of time the game can be on pause. 2) a mutually agreed upon maximum amount of total pauses e.g. 3 minutes total pause time, maximum of three separate pauses. Perhaps the game is forfeited if a player initiates a pause, and is gone for too long? Either the community and Uber agree upon these two, or they're configurable in the lobby? Perhaps it defaults to no pauses allowed, and you have a small window of time to agree upon limits?
Considering how badly PA can run at times i think that would be even more of a reason to add a pause button. I don't think it would be hard either considering games in the past with PA Stats pause if someone drops out why not the same thing in Ranked?.
Well ranked does pause for 180 seconds if a player drops out. So you can reconnect. However: 1. You cannot pause yourself. The only pauses are on connection losses. 2. It automatically starts the game again the moment you connect. So while you still watch "planets are building..." the game continues 3. The 180 seconds are per connection loss. So trolls exist who kill PA, wait 2 minutes, reconnect, repeat. The game should: Allow 3 pauses per player that are triggered by connection loss automatically or by the players via some button Not automatically unpause after connection losses Not allow players to unpause while a connection loss happens, but allow them to unpause during other moments. 120-180 seconds after connection loss assign a default win to the remaining player.
I just say copy Starcraft 2's system and call it a day and it will really show who the horrible people are in this Community its a win win.
Yeah, reinventing the wheel is something we should try and avoid; there's got to be dozens of templates we could use. I think FAF style would work better over SC2, it's "more" similar I think
