Pathing since build 56821

    is it just me or did it get worse at least on earth planets?
    my fabs get stuck on each earth crack/ to small pathes between mountains or cracks

    You can walk and build in the craters on the moons this patch. Not sure how I feel about that, but at least the metal spots inside craters are usable.

    interesting......
    would make them susceptible to long range fire, but hard to hit with conventional straight shot weapons......:D

    Oh, that explains how my fabbers managed to get stuck on the rim of a crater, unable to move at all.

    Bridge building allows you to overcome a terrain obstacle. But also creates a chokepoint, creates terrain that both sides can take advantage of, and creates terrain which is easy to block/destroy. It has value.

    But being able to path through craters creates a totally flat plane with very little tactical value from terrain.

    I think craters should be pathable for bots, but not tanks.

    I think Craters should remain impassable, unless the crater was created by a moon crashing into the planet.

    I've uh... well. I retract my previous statement.

    Ants can't shoot down into craters. At least, I haven't observed them doing so. There is also a brief moment where units in a crater can't shoot out of the crater.

    Do you see the application? You just hide a bunch of bots in a crater. 1 bot can destroy an entire column of Ants.

    Beautiful.

    That's against the AI, which is stupid. Against a human player it wouldn't work.

    there are no natural barriers on moons left now: I hope the change to craters, that every unit can walk in them (or drive) happened by mistake...
    if only bots would be able to walk in, it would be different.

    A couple of things to take from this video

    When everything pauses, I am spamming move commands in the crater. My commander cannot move at all. It can't do anything.

    Screw craters.

    I had several units including the commander get stuck in craters. Including groups of units seemingly too scared of heights to attempt to go into a crater and spin around hysterically....

    Yep....

    I may have set a factory destination on the wrong side of a crater....

    That was a bad mistake. I had 50 units stuck in the crater after about 10 minutes?
