I played last night against Kaptain K Rool and Xenonx on Steel Peel, and it was crazy because it was impossible to kill them. I spawned in and Kaptain, a sniper was on our arches with traps, and after a minute, xenon was on top of our barriers as a gunner killing anything below no matter what. Whenever he had to reload, he jumped down to our jumppad and if I tried to follow, I was headshotted by Kaptain waiting there. Everytime I spawned after that, xenonx was up there with juice and no one stood a chance. Going around the elbow didn't work because I think there was an assault with a bomb on the side of the wall, but I don't think he was with them. Bt the time I finally killed him, he was 55-0. My jaw was on the floor, I couldn't believe just two guys could do that or how. Do you guys up there on the leaderboards have plans like this for every map? Me and my friends just run around for the hell of it and they get pissed when we run into players like that. It was an awesome setup and was impossible for me to beat pretty much by myself, the other people my team weren't very competent at all. Oh yeah I was a tank for this.
Imo that's a really cheap move on the Gunner's part. Standing atop the glass walls having one Gunner basically spawn camp the whole team. Real good players don't need cheap tactics like that.
All it takes is one headshot to kill him, or one throw of an airstrike, bomb, or flak to get him to run for a couple seconds.
What if you aren't a Sniper or Support? I know it's easy to "deal" with I'm just saying they aren't a better player for being able to do that. I think their health should drain from being up there. Kind of similar to standing atop the spawn exit doors.
Aren't they? The other team let them get a foothold up there, why shouldn't they stay up there? There have been times on Steel Peel that the other team set up camp above our spawn, but I was camping their bot spawns the entire game. Guess who won? (I did!) My point being that if it helps the team (and it isn't cheating), why not do it?
cheating helps the team, why not do it? i believe we have a thread for that in the off topic section... anyhow, there is an honor system. i run along tops of walls, but rarely camp there with the biggest gun i have, just to jump off to keep raking up a killstreak. if i had to play like that to stay competitive, id go back to pac-man...
As I said, I was a tank, and the rest of my team consisted of 3 assassins anyone who joined left because they got killed off the spawn. I think it would have been hard to line up a headshot while he was up there, because he was obviously competent enough to shoot whoever walked out, and the fact that whenever he wasn't juiced, he was running back to the sniper.
I'd chalk that up that domination not to Kaptain & co's "Winning strategy" but that you had a bunch of pick ups who all chose Assassin.
I disagree with this. It's notoriously hard to regain map control on Steel Peel, and it isn't a tricky jump to get onto the glass baricade around the spawn ring as the heavy classes. He isn't a good player for getting up there, nor are they bad players for not giving him the opprotunity to get up there. I have no opinion on the rest of this argument.
Product Grenade the fatty to blind him and then tank jump (charge + jet pack) to either lane exit or the back alley. The sniper might get a few body shots on you, but thats what your crazy high health is for. The back alley sounded pretty open if I was understanding this description correctly. Lots of teams that maintain top control don't pay enough attention to bots.
This whole story is because Xenonox and K Rool are absolutely beastly at this game. I have never played against one of them without the other, and every match against them has been extremely difficult. I've beaten them before with my friends, but never before overtime and always getting outkilled by a ton. I love and dread getting put in a lobby with them.
I've beaten them on my own :| To be honest I've never seen them use cheap tactics. They're both very good, but they're not so good that I can't bot push under their noses and win...
I didn't really mean for this to become a, bitch at people who work together kind of thing, I was just curious as to strategies for maps and theirs was obviously a good one as I found out; whether it be a spawnkilling strategy or not.
Really... haha I'm sorry but I never let myself get spawn killed. I don't notice But in the games I've been in with him, Ive never actually run into him. Would make sense that he goes for kills while I go for bots; we wouldn't see each other.
