Since we are having so many threads asking how to get models from blender to PA I decided to make an attempt and see if I could contribute anything. Although I am able to get static models and materials into PA without issue, I have been unable to get a skeletal mesh into PA. Im using a dev build of blender as they have recently rewritten the FBX exporter and everything work great until I attempt to use bones. papatran throws the error "Ignoring cluster because it isn't linked to an FbxSkeleton" for every bone in the model. At first I thought it was blenders exporter but then I decided to get a refrance model and exported an FBX from Unreal 4. I believe the unreal model is fbx compliant but it gives the same error! In conclusion I have two questions: Has anyone seen this kind of error before? And can anyone provide me with a working FBX model I can use as a referance? thanks!
This motivated me to export my in-progress blender model to FBX and convert it to .papa. It happened without error, and in-game it kinda sorta worked, except that there were no animations (not really a surprise: The papa file had a couple extra bones named after the armature and mesh), I didn't bother to texture it, and... Ah... It's huge! That's good for a laugh. Anyway, I'm using Blender 2.67a, and the mesh has the armature as its parent, with appropriately named vertex groups. Evidently that's not good enough for papatran.
