PA in Steam, be or not to be???

Devs have a plan to put PA in Steam?
I really want to pre-order this game, but cant do that directly in my country.

I would like to see it in Steam. Possibly Desura if not Steam.

Steam Greenlight certainly makes it a lot easier to get things on Steam these days, so it might be worth looking into, even if not right away.

Steam takes a cut of all sales (I believe 30%). Not only that, but you don't own anything you buy on steam (read the steam agreement carefully). It's why there's no responsibility on Valve's part to allow continued access to "your" games if steam ever goes down. Having said that, it's very convenient (I have quite a library on there), but there are downsides.

Even though Steam does take 30% it is still a platform that gets visited 5 million times a day. Having PA featured will get more profit however you look at it. Since Uber has a history with Valve I do believe getting the game directly on Steam won't be an issue.

As long as its not steam exclusive. I can't in good concious contribute to their buisiness model. As long as uber provides a way for backers to acquire the game elsewhere and use my keys I'd be happy.

Uber making money, and lots of it is obviously important. We want this publisher-less set up to be highly successful and steam would definitely contribute to that success.

If the game is available on Steam, it won't be exclusive. We will have the game available directly from our site no matter where else it's available.

Indeed but I think we all know its availability on steam would massively boost sales on release!

I don't think it will be. They have said it will be available DRM free, and since Steam can be considered (rightly so) a form of DRM, it will most likely be available without Steam as well.

It isn't Steam exclusive, and never will be.

Not to derail the thread, but Steam is not DRM.

We will be on every digital distribution platform that makes sense for us to be on. No matter the platform, we are working to make sure everyone can always play the game, whether they're online, or playing on their laptop on a flight to Perth.

I'm not sure is playing PA on a plane a good idea, you know.. destroying planets and all that

the "on the plane" part shouldn't be the problem, but if asked at the airport what your plans are, please don't say:
"building a few tanks, demolishing a few buildings and perhaps later on killing a planet."
that might lead to lengthy debates...
