So, after I got my PA alpha key, I immediately set about downloading the game, eager to, of course, play it. However, every time I press "Play" from the launcher, I get this error: PA.exe - System Error The program can't start because d3dx9_43.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I've tried reinstalling PA, I've tried reinstalling DirectX, and I'm on the verge of trying to reinstall Windows. Anyone have a solution? I'm using a Macbook Pro running Windows 7 Ultimate.
Are you sure you tried to reinstall DirectX 9? Files PA need isn't included in DirectX 11 installer. You might get DirectX 9c installer here: http://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/download ... x?id=34429 You don't need to reinstall Windows, it's not the way your problem might be fixed. Please upload your DxDiag log if you want to give real hardware characteristics. Because there is different models (and different production years) of Macbook's.
I downloaded DirectX9.0C, it gave me the standard EULA then stated that "The components installed are now ready for use". It did not resolve the problem. According to Apple knowledge base you have MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012). It's only have integrated Intel HD 4000 GPU, and it's not enough powerful to run PA. To play current alpha version you need discrete graphics card (Nvidia is better, but AMD is probably okay too).
