I have been trying to get it to run for the past 7 hours and it seems nothing I do gets it to work. I have tried to update my drivers, re-installing, turning firewall on and off, checking files through steam, setting it as administrator and nothing seems to work. I even had a friend who has the game working check my dxdiag.exe files and we still couldn't figure anything out. So if some one can help plz reply and if u need to see my dxdiag files then let me know. I also posted this on the forums on steam but I'm posting here because I believe I will get a quicker reply. -karlakistides
Hey, if you want help can you post you dxdiag output. And please explain what doesn't work. Does it launch at all or does it crash on launch
It crashes during the launch and here is the dxdiag. *Note sometimes it does not crash right away but it does it during the launch none the less.
Hi, I've had a look at you Dxdiag, unfortunately your graphics card is too old to run the game, it doesn't have the required feature support and amd no longer provide divers for anything pre hd5000 range... Otherwise your machine would be ok (although 4gb ram is a bit low). If possible you could look at upgrading, there are many inexpensive graphics cards that outperform a 2600, if you give me a budget I'd be happy to suggest some good options at the moment.
I wont be able to give you a budget limit at the moment since I have not been paid yet. But I would like to here your options that would be less than $200.
Yeah basically what you should be looking for the run PA well... A graphics card with 2gb of GDDR5 ram (avoid cheaper cards with DDR3 memory they're really slow), and a mid range or higher GPU. The R9 270 is a great budget card, also the Radeon R7 265 and 260X are also very good value for money. If you prefer Nvidia, then best options around those price points: GTX 760 (might be a bit expensive, a bit faster than R9 270), GTX 660 (older card but still potent so worth a look if there is one for a good price), GTX 650ti (a great value budget card, the GTX 750ti is also good and very power efficient, but also rather over priced for it's speed). Any of these cars should be capable of running PA at high settings, just be aware that you only have 4gb of ram, so be warned that you'll be limited to fairly small maps. I was running on 4gb until recently and as long as your realistic about what you can load up (3 or 4 planets no larger than about R600, or 1 planet R800) then the game will run fine. If you try and load anything bigger though it will use page file which takes ages so it can take a long time to get into game. CPU wise you should be fine although you may get slow down with high unit counts.
