Hi, Sounds like a broken record of a problem but my copy of Planetary Annihilation won't load. It instantly says "pa.exe has stopped working" after I try to load it. This is the same whether I try is via steam or using the UberLauncher. I've updated my drivers, .NET and everything else people have suggested (and I've yet to find a solution on various forums that works for me). Attached is my DxDiag report. Thanks for any help you can give.
Hi, unfortunately your machine isn't capable of running PA as far as I can tell: It is running on 32 bit windows vista which isn't supported, you only have 3gb of ram (PA needs 4, which requires 64 bit) and Nvidia don't have any up to date drivers for Vista for that card either (note there are up to date drivers for Windows 7 and 8). You can probably get the game to work if you upgrade your memory and the OS. The alternative is you could test out the game under a free Linux distro (e.g. www.ubuntu.com)- again this has to be 64 bit. The game *might* run on minimum settings in 64bit linux without any upgrades (though with 3gb of ram you'll only be able to load up a single planet).
Unfortunately there not much to help you. I'll correct @cdrkf because there is no such statement that 32-bit vista not supported, but it's affecte by 32-bit OS memory limitations. For more information and workaround check this topic: http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/648816742979172000/ Even if you set 3GB switch your RAM is too low anyway. Actual crash is happen due to really old graphics drivers: Code: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (GF 9300MGS + GF 9100MG) Driver Date/Size: 12/17/2008 10:30:00, 5898240 bytes You might try those drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/57621/en-us Unfortunately Nvidia abandon graphics drivers updates for laptops on Vista 1.5 year ago so it's likely won't make game work. So most likely you won't able to run PA on this laptop with Vista and on other OS it's likely will be too slow anyway.
