Hi everyone, I didn't really know where to put this, so, here you go. I have a very unspecific error when trying to run Planetary Annihilation, where the game goes to start, and then crashes, resulting in the "pa.exe has stopped working" message. I would really apreciate anyone's assistance in trying to get this thing to work. Below is a copy of the log, which I have found particularly unhelpful, and a dxdiag analysis. Any suggestions are welcome, but I have already tried the following: - Visual C++ Redist 2005, 2007 & 2010 - DirectX Redist 2005, 2007 & 2010 - Net Framework (Newest) - Updating GPU Drivers Log: === [20:25:52.016] INFO Log file C:\Users\Ashley\AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log\PA-20-25-52.000.txt opened [20:25:52.016] INFO delete /user/log/PA-19-20-13.000.txt [20:25:52.031] INFO Looks like we are running via Steam [20:25:54.576] INFO GL_VENDOR: NVIDIA Corporation [20:25:54.576] INFO GL_RENDERER: GeForce GTX 770M/PCIe/SSE2 [20:25:54.576] INFO GL_VERSION: 4.4.0 [20:25:54.576] INFO GL_SHADING_LANGUAGE_VERSION: 4.40 NVIDIA via Cg compiler [20:25:54.950] INFO 4.4.0 [20:25:54.950] INFO build version 51853 [20:25:54.966] INFO Coherent content root: "file:///D:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Planetary Annihilation/media/ui/" [20:25:54.966] INFO Coherent host dir: "D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Planetary Annihilation\\bin_x64\\host" [20:25:54.966] INFO Coherent local store: "C:\\Users\\Ashley\\AppData\\Local\\Uber Entertainment\\Planetary Annihilation\\localstore" [20:25:56.384] ERROR reconItemLayerFromString encountered unknown value: [all] [20:25:57.742] INFO {{FMOD}} fmod buffer size 5 [20:25:57.758] INFO Setting graphics to high [20:25:57.961] INFO client::ClientGame::SystemReady [20:25:59.410] INFO Setting graphics to medium [20:26:01.298] INFO Dump written to C:\Users\Ashley\AppData\Local\Temp\c4b6f5ab-933e-4fc3-ad85-26ebff2500af.dmp [20:26:01.298] INFO Upload command: "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planetary Annihilation\bin_x64\crashupload.exe" -c "C:\Users\Ashley\AppData\Local\Temp\checkpoint.cpk" -p "Platform=windows" -p "Program=client" -p "TitleId=4" -p "Version=51853" "http://uberent.com/GameClient/SubmitCrashReportWithDump" "C:\Users\Ashley\AppData\Local\Temp\c4b6f5ab-933e-4fc3-ad85-26ebff2500af.dmp" [20:26:01.329] INFO Upload limit reached [20:26:01.344] INFO Uploader exited with exit code 0 DxDiag: http://www16.zippyshare.com/v/55484785/file.html One thing I am a little unsure about is my lack of a sound card at the moment, as I am waiting for one to come in the post, due to the onboard sound device conflicting with my GTX 770m. Will having no sound card installed prevent PA from launching? All other games work fine. Thanks in advanced for any help Ash
Yes, it's known bug which was present in old versions of game. It's FMOD bug, so Uber can't fix it. Isn't there some software which can create virtual sound card on Windows?
I've googled a bit and found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Audio_Cable http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm This software designed for audio mixing, but it's also create virtual sound card in your system, so it's might fix your crash.
You're absolutely bloomin' marvelous, you should know that! All working fine! All I need now is my new sound card so I can hear stuff again, but this'll do for now. Thank you very much indeed, I owe you a beer! Ash
