Ever since the latest patch the game has been constantly crashing on me when I try to join any lobbies. It gets to "Connecting to server" and shortly thereafter crashes. On other occasions where I get into the lobby it will crash when the game starts. Before the last patch the game was working fairly well crashing only when large numbers of units were in play. To play I usually have to start the game myself and even then it tends to crash often. I believe all my drivers are updated. And I've tried several of the solutions already offered on the forum. Not sure what else todo.
I checked your files and I don't see what might cause crash like this. If you updated drivers recently make sure you restarted PC after than. Also can you please upload this crash dump file (pack it in ZIP)? C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\efa626b4-f39e-477b-b396-fed96d2e08d2.dmp Or possible it's not required...
Ok I'm not sure if I can ask developer to check it today so there is something I want ask you to try. Try to get non-Steam version here: https://store.uberent.com/Download/Install?titleId=4 And then check if it's crashing by the same way or not.
Try non-Steam version. Your problem isn't usual, but I not sure if crash dump can be checked before next week so worth to try. Also do you have any streaming software installed? Or anything that modify drivers or affect (e.g boost) graphics card performance?
That last post was using the non-steam PA launcher, and I don't use anything beside the regular Geforce Experience driver software. The crash tends to happen more often when joining any lobby with more than 2 planets, seems to have issues with anything larger. New one from today using non-steam launcher.
The dumps you posted both fall under the category of 'networking error'. I could see a bad NIC causing this. Any chance you have a spare NIC you can throw in your rig and see if the crash repros?
Running on wireless right now, will try going through another ethernet card when I can grab a spare. Could it possibly be my wireless router as I just tested the game on another laptop I had and it seemed to be having similar issues. Are there any ports that the game uses that i need to make sure aren't blocked? It just seems really weird that it was working just fine before this latest patch.
Game only need ability to connect external TCP ports in 9000-9050 range, but it's don't need to open any ports on your side.
From my other laptop...and now that I think about it I've tried this at another location so it couldn't be my router as I was having the same issues.
