I can no longer play the alpha. I haven't played the alpha in a while but decided to pick it back up and the current build will not work on my computer (crashing immediately upon launch). I used to have it from the Uber launcher but decided to try to delete it and re-download it from steam to see if it would fix it but it continues to crash upon launch. The game will open and it will just show a black window with the PA mouse that I can move but will not move beyond that or show any graphics and after 5 seconds will crash. If someone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Attach a dxdiag please! Chances are, you need to update your video drivers, but there's a chance there's something else going on too.

You're really running on the strict minimum, this won't provide you with a good experience on alpha or beta (and maybe even on release).
there have been problems with the last couple patches and intel HD graphics but downloading the latest beta should fix.

here's the link to the thread about hd 2000 / 3000 problems that should be fixed now and in anycase you have the 4000

    and here is your driver:

First you can still use link tatsujb gived, these drivers also need to be updated, but he wrong a bit about your problem.

You have GeForce GT 640M in your notebook with a bit outdated drivers:
    Code:
    12/29/2012 02:34:47
You need to update drivers first:
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win8-win7-64bit-327.23-whql-driver.html

    Then check this video:

Then set PA.exe to run on high performance Nvidia graphics card and everything will work just fine!

Hey man! Always check "System Devices" section of DxDiag. o_O
Discrete graphics on laptop are usually "hidden" there.

ah yeah, I'm not as thorough as you mate :p still it's skimming the min recommendations it think the fact the cpu is on 2.6Gz only when on turbo is a little weak.
