PA Alpha Build: 49900

    Date: June 21st, 2013


    Platforms: Windows 64-bit, and Early Stage Mac OS/X 10.7/10.8 and Linux testing. We're working hard to get 32-bit versions out as well, but as of today, we don't have clients we can provide for it. XP is NOT supported, Mac OS/X 10.6 unfortunately cannot be supported due to middleware.

    If you are playing on Linux or Mac at this early stage, please join us on the forums for discussion and ongoing bug fixes. These builds are still very early. If you don't wish to play through steam for them, you can download directly from http://uberent.com/launcher/padownloads - Mac and Linux only, these are full build until we get our stand alone launcher working.


    Build 49900:

    * Start spot selection is smaller, guaranteed distance between player start spots should be greater
    * Pathing/Collision fixes: You should no longer be able to stack buildings. Fixed warping near structures/mountains. Performance improvements.
    * New Strat Icons!
    * Chrono cam stability fixes (Work in progress)
    * Range rings now more accurately reflect max vision, intel or weapon range
    * You can no longer see the skirt decals on enemy buildings until you have intel on them
    * More audio work

    Bugs Fixed
    • FS#39 - Buildings have no collision. (But see FS#1433 - Can still stack buildings in .49900)
    • FS#58 - Factory wreckages continue to Nanolathe / Animate after death
    • FS#89 - Construction boat has no strategic view/minimap icon
    • FS#92 - Factory locations visible through Fog of War
    • FS#131 - Sonar icon missing
    • FS#164 - Sunfish Icon huge when zoomed out
    • FS#204 - Appear to be able to select units on the other side of the planet
    • FS#678 - T2 Bomber uses incorrect strategic icon
    • FS#679 - Sea Barrier uses factory strategic icon.
    • FS#680 - Slammer has T1 bot icon
    • FS#834 - Water unit indicators too large
    • FS#1031 - You can change the starting resources for other players, in the lobby

    Bugs Partly Fixed
    • FS#1382 - Catapult/Nuke Launcher/Anti-nuke appear as full skin when placing on map

    One thing missing from the notes, the build spray amount gets reduced when your economy is stalled. It can be a subtle change, but if you really tank your economy it'll just be a trickle.

    You guys are AWESOME ! Thank you so much for this new build ;)

    However regarding the following :

    => stacking building : when you queue many buildings, the no stacking mechanism works for the next building you queue (let's say : current +1) . but if you queue another one (current +2) and current is not completed yet, then current + 2 can be built on to of current + 1.

    will raise a bug in pa tracker.

    Anyhow, good stuff as usual ;)

    Nice changes, hopefully I still recall what the old icons looked like ;)
    I'm guessing there will likely at least one more build before I'm able to play again.

    Hum I'm a bit disappointed with the new strategics icons :lol:

    Suggestions:

    The power plant should have the power icon, like on the UI, same for for the metal.

    When you got many units at one point and you are in overview you can't see anything.
    Why not displaying a summary of the units, with a number near each type? Or an army strength indicator?

    The new icons look great, they are just a bit too small imho. The inner part is hard to read like this.

    Am I blind or are the mex spots gone?
    I guess this means that somebody is working on them.

    Great build, but now I am wondering how I should build mex :lol:

    Great work! Evil construction subs can only build but not move in this update. Did you add new music or maybe it was added in the last build? I do miss some of the fun bugs like your units disappearing then reappearing on the other side of the planet (unplanned sneak attack). Starting on the moon is fun although there is no one to attack. :(

    The "moon" biome is just a planet with no atmosphere. All players will still be on the same planet.

    Also not mentioned in this update, all planets are metal planets! They were before this patch too, just we broke the metal spots showing up. ;) And yes, that is a sign someone is working on them. The first step in game dev is always break something you're supposed to be making better so when you fix it it looks like you made even more progress!

    I played 3 games and so far I always spawned next to an other player really close. even closer than before the new build. So it doesn't seem to have the effect it suppose to have.

    Also the catapult and the nuke launcher projectiles collide against mountains cause they are not getting high enough. Is this wright or wrong? it can be a strategy to build your base in between mountains. But it seems not right a nuke is not getting higher than mountains or rocks.

    I just played a game on an incomplete planet and started really close to two other people as well.
