Planetary Annihilation Early Access can be purchased in Russia for 1199 rubles, equivalent to less than $38 USD. Although this doesn't affect me at all because I bought the $20 version only, I feel like this is a big "F you" to all the people who payed $40 and above on Kickstarter. The people who payed $40 on Kickstarter were some of the earliest supporters of the game, yet they paid over $2 more only to have to wait until the beta is out while Russians can buy the game RIGHT NOW on Steam for a meager sum of $38 and play the alpha. And don't even get me started on the people who payed $90 for the alpha. They paid more than double the price for the same product.

Remember that for them 38$ is like 100$ for you. I know what does that mean, we had the same in Poland before democracy. Hell, 90$ in złoty right now is A LOT, and I had to buy at this price!

People complain when the price is too high, people complain when the price is too low... There's just no way to please everyone at once.

The price needs to be fixed. Otherwise it kinda goes again the whole "we are treating alpha backers fairly".

Please look up the term "cost of living". Or alternatively go live in Russia for a few years and then tell us if you still think $40 US is cheap.

This guy is a Russian who paid $90 for the Kickstarter and then found out that the game is only $38 on Steam. I can only imagine how disappointed he was when he found out. I'm sure Russians are perfectly capable of paying the same amount, but in order to compete with the other games on the Russian Steam store which are also very cheap, they lowered the price. Also I don't know what made you think Russia is an impoverished place, because it is one of the richest and best educated nations in the world, not far behind the US or UK. And the whole point of currency exchange is so that the the exchange rate roughly matches the price ratio for two identical products in the two countries.

Russia is also a different market. I believe that it has been pointed out that games are generally cheaper there as a rule. Kickstarter doesn't have the infrastructure necessary to do market adaptive pricing. Steam does. Also the $90 Kickstarter level includes a few bonus things that are not included with $90 alpha access on Steam.

So while he may have been able to get a slightly better deal if he had waited (depending on how much value he places on the KS rewards vs the Galactic Edition rewards) its not like he got cheated.

This isnt a new thing, people in Russian are way way poorer.

So lower prices helps to combat piracy, because again they cannot afford it.

90$ is a lot for me even from Europe.

$40 US is a lot to an awful lot of people in US too, never mind $90 US. I personally know people who seriously worry about spending $20. And that's in Texas where the cost of living is very low compared to most of the US.

Steam prices in russia have always been like this. The whole concept of keystores is to buy in russia and sell to eu people.

That's not the point. You can extend that to homeless penniless people in 1st world countries - should they get the game for free?

If they were their own sovereign nation that also happened to be a large market for PC games I'm sure that they would get a discount too. Sorry but the world just isn't fair.
