    Hi All,

I am loving everything about this game thus far and would just like to throw out a couple of ideas for debate with the forum or even on the off chance of future consideration.

I would like to see another level of the battle field added to the game

currently we have ground and air. I would like to see ground>air>sub orbit

    Types of orbital structures,

    - Solar collectors
    - Space stations
    - Satellites
    - Drop pod facilities

    Ground structures,

    - Space elevator
    - Seti radio tower

To expand on some of the above thoughts,

    Space elevator
Shot into space and anchored on the far end, this would allow the transport of raw metal and energy to orbit and to the surface to allow construction of various structures.

Due to the power requirements of PA tech this elevator would need to be operational at all times to supply said structures with energy. After a prolonged period without power any structures shutdown and drift away from the anchor point and the orbit of these structures will decay entering the atmosphere striking relatively random locations on the planet.

Station will make the biggest impact heavy damage/splash damage. The rest will make light moderate damage/splash damage

    Space stations

When i say space station i am not talking Death star or DS9 sized stations. This is a small structure with the three abilities

    1. Construct the following
    - Solar collectors
    - Spy Satellites
    - Drop pod facilities

    2. Probe launch ability to scan nearby planetary bodies.

    3. A launch platform for the construction bots already shown in the game trialer to send to said planetary bodies

    Solar collectors

This is a small satellite with the sole purpose of gathering solar energy which the space elevator will transfer to the ground. This will not directly power the space station in my thoughts. This will also have a constraint and and one ability.

    1. Constraint.

Once constructed and ordered to a location they cannot be moved again by the player useless they lose power/communication with the ground and orbit decays, in which case they will drift and re-enter the atmosphere.

    2. Ability.

Once constructed you can order the satellites to a position over a player base and turn off the satellites forcing orbit decay and damage whatever is below on re-entry.

    Spy Satellites

Build a spy satellite with no offensive ability. Just build and set in orbit over enemy base to monitor area. With some countermeasure for player to detect after a certain ground building is constructed and then an ground based offensive weapon to shoot it down.

    Drop pod facilities

Simply another version of the unit cannon with the ability to construct a set amount of units(tier 1 bots) which will be constructed in pods(five units per pod? twenty unit limit per station?) which can be deployed anywhere on the planet not shrouded in game fog (used with the spy satellite could be effective)

    Ground based structures

    - Seti radio tower

Prior to building the space elevator the player can build the Seti radio tower (or Arecibo Observatory syle buidling) which can target a planetary body to give vague glimpse of structures or if a tier two version was made then pick up the larger units or enemy orbital structures.

Sorry if anything here has already come up or mentioned before. I did a rough search but did not find anything along my lines of thinking.

    And one last dream request,

Maybe add an ION cannon? ;)

We could just use the solar collectors to feed that and have an offensive satellite

Anyone who read this far, thank you. I hope to hear some feedback positive or negative, we all have opinions and wishes for the future of this game :ugeek: .

    Regards

    Re: Sub orbital structures

Did you mean orbital instead of sub orbital? The definition of suborbital is an orbit that will intersect the ground (i.e crash)

Yes sir you are correct and i have edited it now :). What about you Menchfrest would you like to see any game mechanics included like this?.

I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of units end up making it into the orbital gameplay...also to see how scouting other planets will go. Probes or even a ground installation would be a good way to handle taking a first look at other planets. And I think it goes without saying that an ion cannon would be awesome!
