I'll admit that I'm no crackshot, but I find that sometimes I fight the auto-aim more than my opponents. I know what I'm aiming for, auto-aim does not. Maybe I want to take out that support that's behind a gunner, well auto-aim is going to focus on the gunner since it's a closer target. Maybe I want to focus on that jackbot instead of the assault jumping around it. Auto-aim says "HEY IT'S A PLAYER! SHOOT HIM! WHO CARES ABOUT A 20 FOOT TALL TIN CAN WITH CANNONS?" In any game I have the option to disable auto-aim, I disable it. I'm usually more comfortable with it disabled as I know any misses I have are 100% my fault. It also lets me choose my target among a group rather than the game saying "shoot the closest guy in sight".
I've noticed this aswell. Trying to take out bots from distance with the railgun can target a Pro pushing behind them. The Pro usually isn't even a threat. I'd like to disable auto-aim aswell.
i have had an instance where an assassin ran across my line of fire and actually pulled my crosshairs off of my target, and i died because of it. i have also missed many a headcrab because they are being grappled and the crosshairs aim between the two of them.
this is a good idea, it can be handy when a silly assassin runs across the screen in front of you though (cloaked)
This exactly. Any form of aimbot that is forced upon players holds them back, IMO. I feel the same way about every other game I've played where aimbot is forced upon you(damn you Left 4 Dead!)
I can't even begin to count the amount of sniper shots and railgun hits I have missed due to the autoaim. Guess why I don't main sniper anymore?
because you get called a camping piece of crap that takes no skill? that's why i dislike sniping in this game
it works kinda like a magnet would hovering near other magnets , for instance say im trying to target you but your team mate is near you , my crosshair will be tugged away from you in many cases.if im aiming for a firebase and a support is near healing it sometimes it gets pushed away from the firebase. edit: luckly Uber did a good job with character hit boxes.
