So I'm finding that building two metal extractors and then an energy generator is the most optimal starts currently. Because from there I can stay in green for a while has anyone worked out an optimal built at the moment?
Do you not run out of power doing this? In my mind the power to build 3 mex's and 1 factory doesn't seem like you can do this running off 1 Pgen.
I prefer to play gentleman's rules. This means only building mex on nodes, and no building stacks. With this, I usually build 2 mex, 2 energy, 1 Vfact, then just queue up all the rest of the mex nodes I can see with my commander in the area while I get some conbots out to build some more energy. The balance of the t2 units in the game is a lot more plausible when you can't just spam build 500 of them per second.
I also like gentleman's rules because it's alpha I did originally just built everything at once with fabbers but it's just not fair to wreck a fair game by cheating against humans....k against bots I have no issue with that but against someone else it's not fair. I'd rather win or lose by my own merits not exploiting bugs. If I find a bug I do report it because I'd rather it be more what the game is meant to become then just winning
Until they add in the Mex points i will continue to just build mexs where ever. Unless at the starting of the game it is agreed that we build on mex points only. Else i would never have enough time to even bug test when their army is 4x the size of mine because of the mass. Good idea vs private - Bad idea vs public
power - 3 mex - anti-air turret - factory - power - 2 mex - 2 power- mex - power - factory In the meantime other builders build radars anti-air and laser defense as well as walls. I like walling off areas so people don't bother me from all sides
I usually go power ->4 mex -> air fac/bot fac. You'd be surprised how much damage a few early Scampers can do. Not that I know from first hand that is, they just feel so much like PeeWees.
We should have a gentlemen tournament where we all agree to avoid a list of exploits and bugs. Mm... That might become a long list. Any bug/exploit that isn't in the list yet can be used. Could flush out some bugs and provide some pointers of what people think is a bug or feature.
The True Gentleman's Tournament: Only units allowed: T1 Power, T1 Mass, T1 Bot Fac, T1 Air Fac, T1 Air Scout, PeeWee Scamper. No reclaiming at all, no building in "impossible" areas, such as crevasses, walls or on the moon, no structure stacking.
Optimal doesn't mean anything while you can build mexes anywhere and everywhere almost instantly. Right now it's ridiculously easy to have your commander build a few hundred mexes/pgens from the get go and still fuel multiple factories. We need the mex -> metal spot thing soon.
Yeah, the mex metal spots and no selecting through planets will be the most important improvements in the short term for gameplay. Although I've to say its quite fun overrunning everybody with hundreds of units out of dozens of advanced factories. :mrgreen:
