Oooo, I think I may have some balance solutions

    I have been lurking for a while now and noticed some stuff about things. I have also thought about some balancing things.

    1. Keep the current patch to the assassin preventing cloaking mid-grapple, but make her smokebomb blind firebases for longer. No other turret, just the firebase. If you are near any other turret, then you are probably a spawn camping slut :p (which is lame). I think a reasonable amout of time would be 5-ish seconds on any level of firebase.

    2. Make snipers get frozen by their own freeze traps. Thus preventing them from freezing you then super-grappling you to death.

    3. Reduce the power of the firebase when it is put on the enemy's side of the map. I have seen a lot of supports spawn crap the hell out of a stupid team of randoms, and this angers me and (presumably) quite a few other people; but if a support puts down a firebase to help defend his moneyball then not many (again, presumably) people would care to bitch about it.

    What do you think of my balance ideas? ....... Can I have some bacon now?

    The Assassin is a support character whether people want to admit it or not.. they aren't supposed to be the ones leading the charge, they aren't designed that way.

    People argue that the assassin is supposed to be a stone cold killer, which they are.. but you aren't John Rambo. They specialize in picking off stragglers and clearing lanes.. not charging at somebody who is well defended.

    Even then.. you CAN take out a support, a back grapple with the sword upgrade one shots everybody, it's just suicide.


    The whole freeze trap thing, If the sniper is going to charge at you when you are frozen then you should have ample time to kill them.


    Reducing the firebase's power when it's on the enemies side of the map isn't a good idea at all because there is this thing called teamwork that can be applied to the situation and will allow you to quickly clear out a support and his turret.

    Lemme tackle these, I'll try and be constructive where possible (why does that sound worse than I want it to? XD )

    1) I'm not really sure why people think smokebomb then grab is a good strategy... smokebomb is like a big sign saying "jump and run around like crazy! I'm gonna try to grab you!" You chances of grabbing someone after a smokebomb, especially with a back grapple, aren't great :p
    Secondly, being someone who's killed tons of people at their spawn to stop them protecting the money ball, most spawn killing takes place on the upper platform, out of sight of the turrets below so this doesn't stop spawn killing in the slightest :3

    2) Not sure what I think of this outside that it'd be highly amusing XD

    3) Highly unintuitive. I wouldn't do this as most players would think it was a bug and messaging it to the players would be a pain in the rear.


    Nice ideas though. I wouldn't implement the last one but they were interesting to read :3

    The best way to balance the game is to give all players access too all of the abilities and weapons.

    All of these can be dealt with Easily with good team play.......

    but of course it's hard to get a random game like that....

    I would assume 85% of the communities issues wouldn't exist if people played the right way...

    Possibly put a changelog-viewer in the main menu? That way people could see what is being changed without having to go to these forums?

    Also, to the OP, I don't think it should be half the map. It should just be inside the enemy teams base. Steel Peel- Outside of the Dome, on the enemy teams' side. LazeRazor- nemy teams base, easy enough to outline etc.

    Yeah, if the firebase were to be nerfed, KanibalkittN's idea would be much better.

    @ Geminosity: I have successfully smokebombed a lazerblazer then killed a support that was standing near it and I didn't cloak during the grapple. So smokebombing can work, you just need to be quick and the turret needs to stay blinded (which firebases seem to shrug off rather quickly).

    I still think that snipers should be frozen by their own traps. I have been seeing more and more of them standing right on top of their traps more recently, and it can be very frustrating while play as an assassin.
