Game Version: GAMMA v.63475 So I ended up very frustrated at the final A.I (hard) in a practice FFA game. Yes I know the game was very long (as you'll probably be able to tell by my minerals and energy) but I was using it as a way to kill time until my friends came online, plus the stupid A.I frustrated me so much that I simply had to kill it, no matter how long it would take. Anyway, I ended up sending a nuke to it but it got shot down by an anti-nuke. Then I got really angry and literally sent 12 nukes at once... Some of them were shot down but the majority made it. However, "made it" doesn't mean they hit. They glitched out over the A.I's base and began spinning in circles rapidly until they formed an onion ring of death, literally. I waited for a long time to see if they'd eventually hit but they simply kept spinning and were slowly picked off by anti-nukes finishing up. I started to send single nukes again and most of them hit but one of them did get stuck in a loop as well. I was really annoyed obviously because a bunch of nukes just went to waste. Some of the single nuke loops that formed later on eventually hit after looping about 20 times, but the big 12 nuke one never went away, even after the entire area was clean of A.I structures and units. It also began to tilt and it changed degrees until most of it was underwater. I've included pictures in the attachment. I was nuking from a planet to it's moon. Here is the planet data for the section of the system (I don't think other planets in the system effected this, but if you think they did, I'll post their information too): Code: Where the Onion Rings of Death Formed: HIT M4: Biome: Earth Seed: 14451 Radius: 600 Height Range: 50 Biome Scale: 50 Water Height: 55 Temperature: 0 Position: X = 31567.1 Y = -18004.9 Velocity: X = -52.497 Y = 62.4688 Engines: 0 Mass: 7500 It was also orbiting another planet, Mashus Potayus, which is also the location from which I launched the nukes: Biome: Tropical Seed: 275459 Radius: 1185 Height Range: 50 Biome Scale: 50 Water Height: 50 Temperature: 100 Position: X = 24803.4 Y = -8417.99 Velocity: X = 44.4031 Y = 130.833 Engines: 0 Mass: 33000 There was also another moon, Oiifwinkle, orbiting Mashus Potayus as well: Biome: Moon Seed: 78462 Radius: 200 Height Range: 0 Biome Scale: 50 Water Height: 0 Temperature: 0 Position: X = 28531.4 Y = -8456.57 Velocity: X = 42.2261 Y = -79.529 Engines: 3 Mass: 3000 I don't know if this is a newly discovered bug or one already in the archives. I searched around for it but I didn't find anything. If it is already known then though, let me know and then lock this thread. Also, I'm not running any mods on my game.
Really? When this happened to me I attacked ground and my nuke chased its own tail. I've never had a problem selecting buildings as targets though.
Scathis mentioned in this thread that the height range of planets affects lots of different things, and suggest's that planet's with height ranges higher than 25 shouldn't be used as it cause's aiming issues, pathing issues, and just generally looks ugly... Maybe nukes are affected by this height range too... I suggest to try setting your planet and moons height sliders to be within the 10 to 25 range and see of the bug still occurs.... edit... fixed typo's
It is possible to target units/buildings/whatever directly? uh. Never even tried. Target ground works 100% as far as I remember.
Just out of curiosity...is it possible to target an incoming enemy nuke with your own nuke, if your quick enough..?
