Will there be one legged units in the game? Maybe like a scout unit that could hop around quickly and hop to higher ground. ideas/answers/suggestions?

I dunno. You have a good reason why one leg is a better design than 2 or 4?

To possibly give more unit variety or more easily distinguish a hopping robot. also one leg uses less resources : )

Can we have units with bells on? For more unit variety, and to easily identify jingly robots?

If this is a troll thread, it's somewhat humorous.

Can't wait for no-legged units, they should be really cheap to manufacture. ;P

Hopping is a very efficient form of locomotion.
    See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kangaroo#Locomotion

Now of course Roo's have two legs, but that's more down to evolutionary baggage than an innate need for >1.

A counter-balancing tail is a far more useful appendage (regardless of limb count).

Now I'm not quite sold on the Monopod Bot, but a hopping Kangaroo Bot, complete with a tail?
That I like. Then again I am biased.

Well, a design where the unit has a tail would be effective for cases where you need a tripod for stability when firing. A cool artillery unit could tip forward until it's balanced on its legs, and then 'set up' by sitting on its tail.

Two legs are better for handling poor terrain though - one leg just can't compensate if it lands on the wrong angle / spot!

This in fact is not a troll thread. Also, I fail to see the purpose and gameplay potential of "jingly robots."

If this is a troll reply, it's somewhat insulting.

This is a silly idea, legs are bad enough for war as it is, let alone having to hop with one.

@Neutrino: What do you think of one legged hopping robots? Are they a possibility

Well if monopod units are added to this game, I also want these added too. I would dare say that it would be 100% cooler. :D

    200% cooler, in fact.

Or 50% cooler than normal mechs.

    Because legs are cool.

Probably the most nonsensical unit design I've seen in a game is this.

tripods would be a nice addition, at least they never wobble standing still. ;)

in general, more variants with more than 2 legs might be sensible and a nice variation, but for just one leg I don't really see a purpose.
(with one legs, we could add a bowling ball to the commander abilities, and add a game mode "Commander bowling" )

I want to see a robot (even a commander) has tentacles instead of arms.

    Leg Lab

Right in the beginning is an old clip from the eighties, a one-legged robot.
It really isn't that bad of a design, it is, as said already, pretty effective way of moving around

Wait a minute...do you mean to imply that my airplanes won't have legs, ala Macross?

well if you look at some TED talks the best all terrain vehicle would be a insect design. it means it have bouncy legs and all over legs (look at an ant) i cant find the vid but there are robots that ALWAYS resemble a actual creature living or dead and they can move through their enviroment with great ease. Also no legged units.... depends on their mode of transportation hover? Slither? etc all those WOULD be expensive its just you wouldnt think so cause its complicated machinery
