Hi ubers! My nickname is [http]Satir in game. I'm really fan "Annihilation" series. I played Total Annihilation from 1998 to 2013 years. Also i tested many TA mods (from 2009 to 2013 years), had a hundred posts in balance threads...To be truthful this threads annoying me a little,but... I played many games on my own water map and i can say that it looks like AIR wars much more then sea wars.No..Air is just fine in PA, its sea units just horrible. So I have a few suggestions(radical!!) about sea balance: 1)Increase move speed for all t1 sea units.They are really slow. Orca's group can't catch 1 leviathan in ages. 2)Add DPS for Narwhal AA cannon. 3)Stingray too expensive.Decrease their metal cost(from 3200 to 2500 for example). PA sea battles must be more dynamically with SEA units! Thanks for all! Sorry for English))
Yeah, we all hear you, we've been saying similar things for months. ^^; I think Uber said they'll be doing something about naval soon(tm) (Haven't used soon in a while. )
Well yes, that's just because they haven't started yet, heheh. If you ever want official word from a dev a good person to ask is @jables, though @scathis is the leader behind balance AFAIK.
Do t1 boats outrange commanders with the range tweak? If so, one of the biggest naval issue - commanders wrecking early game navy attacks - is partially solved... More tweaks like speed, health, and AA are still needed, though.
But, it does mean they can score damage. Before, a commander could take on infinite number of t1s and never take damage.
