It was estimated to be roughly a month before Uber would have an idea of what the sales numbers are for MNC -- it's been a bit more than a month. Uber, do you have an estimate of how well you did? We know its a success, but how much of one?
I think Monday Night Combat is a prime example of a word-of-mouth game that will have some legs to it's sales figures. Upon first glance, it is extremely easy to pass it off as another run-o-the-mill multiplayer shooter, despite it being anything but that. Part of the reason I think this is the case is because after 3 or 4 weeks, MNC was still second on the most purchased list of the week, passing Lara Croft, Shank and others, despite those games releasing after MNC. It will be interesting to see how it withstands the quickly approaching (if not already here) holiday onslaught. The biggest test is today. I'll be curious to see how matchmaking looks later tonight...after I'm done killing some covenant myself, of course.
qft I almost passed. I'm glad I didn't. So are the people I got into it. It doesn't. I wasn't ranked when I was playing the demo.
WOW. So, Gross sales numbers for Monday Night Combat would have it at about $3.75 million. After Microsoft's (estimated) 40% cut equalling $1.5mil, it leaves approximately $2.25mil to cover the costs of creating the game (including payroll, bonuses, etc). I think that's pretty damn good.
I heard somewhere that the cut works out to more like $7 of the price which would put it around 1.75 million. Take it with a grain of salt though. Hopefully the sales keep coming though. It's not about just paying for the costs to date, but the costs ahead as they keep making DLC. Not to mention enough income to finance the next game.
