Knew about game since Kickstarter, would like to know current status of the game and whether it is now worth a shot...
Some questions that would be awesome if you answered:
    1. Is galactic war in yet? If not, any date to release?
    2. How stable is the game? I got a gtx760 and Fx-8350 so I think I will be ok but still wanna know
    3. Can you go to multiple planets yet? (Can you start building a base on one planet and then colonize another and start building on it?)
Sorry if some questions seem dumb or "out of date" but just want a quick up to date summary of the current state of the game.

    1. Is galactic war in yet? If not, any date to release? Nah
    2. How stable is the game? I got a gtx760 and Fx-8350 so I think I will be ok but still wanna know. Stable enough.
    3. Can you go to multiple planets yet? (Can you start building a base on one planet and then colonize another and start building on it?) Oh yer
It was worth it about 5 builds ago ... Buy it. NOW

Very much so, so long as you're prepared for it to be a little rough around the edges sometimes.

1: Not yet. But they do have a playable test version of the Galactic War. No release date. They never give release dates.
2: This latest build had a huge increase in performance and has been more stable for me. It is beta. But it's better.
3: Yes. We've been able to play on multiple planets since the release of Beta.

I would highly recommend buying the game.

You should also check out some gameplay videos.

The game has been 'worth it' for some time, but this last build has really opened up a lot of new options and strategies.

Balance is starting to take a turn for the better as well.

A lot of us here have been playing PA for months and having fun with it, and it just got a whole lot better. Buy it!

In terms of hardware a couple of other things to check:

1: How much ram do you have- PA needs ram more than fast gfx or cpu, 8gb is a must IMO

2: What OS am I running- basically you want to be on a 64 bit OS. Windows 7 64, or a recent linux distro that's 64 bit are probably best. 32 bit technically works but is pretty much a no go due to the memory limitations.

I have a 660 Ti which is very close to the 760 in terms of performance, and also the same CPU as you, and I can run the game very well. There are still performance issues, although I believe these have been improved with the latest patch. People with higher specs often experience the same performance issues anyway, so I think some of it is server side, or just general poor optimisation (due the game not being finished).

In that case I'd say you shouldn't have any issues.

As others have mentioned though it is possible to slow PA down on any system (for example getting carried away making massive planets and huge systems in the system editor), and late game in large battles you generally get slow down as the unit count gets into the thousands. So as long as you're realistic about the fact that this is still in beta I think its worth it. It's certainly at a point where its good fun to play.

Oh also it's on-line only so you do need a reasonable internet connection (ideally 8mb+) as the games are all hosted on Ubers server. You can play 1 player against AI but you still need to log on the server to do it.

Edit: Offline play and single player (GW) are confirmed for the retail launch.

Yes we can Go Multiple Planets already, but there are still some missing/unfinished elements of the Interplanetary Mechanics that make Multi-Planet play not ideal yet. It's getting there but still a ways to go IMO.

    1. NO galactic war yet, the release date for it is soon™.
    2. The stability of the game is pretty good, but could definitely be better (very little crashes, mostly freezes or when something goes wrong and game doesnt load up entirely). Those graphic cards are ok (I'm running Amd's HD4670), but the game till renders most of it's stuff on CPU. They are migrating it to GPU and we might get that next patch.
    3. Yes, you could play on multiple planets since the beginning of beta.

I'd buy it for MY daughter, but she's still trying to grasp the concept of how to use a potty and speak full words, so I think advanced raiding tactics will have to wait.

Definitely worth it. I bought a copy for my friend a few days ago, he wasn't going to buy it, its a FA extremist and it was impressed with the game, much better then he thought it would be. Its in such a good playable state these days, more units are being added with each new build it seems which comes about once a month or so, graphics are looking good, less bugs, smoother gameplay as network optimizations go on to improve and inter planetary is working superb! right now, planet smashing running good, no longer bugs out, CTD or any of that crap. Nuke did lag me out against an AI tonight but thats just simply my crappy *** internet connection, not the game and graphically, game looks a ton better then it did last year since the addition of HDR and bloom. Could use a little more tweaking, more bloom here and there, and lights for buildings and units when it goes dark will come.

The planet biomes have just been HUGELY improved also. The game is so worth getting anyway it'll have everything you could want in a RTS game, huge scale, great diversity in gameplay, on multiple planets and moons... what more could you really ask for? modding perhaps? oh yea.. this game is going to get CRAZY!! when real modding hits the game!
