We all know what nukes do on the ground But what makes them epic is the fact of there emp ability. Since after all this is robots I think that we should have the ability to blow it up in the atmosphere creating a big emp pulse that disable all factory's and robots in a certain amount of radius. for a duration of course there should be a type of building that blocks this emp effect in a certain area effects and if you get Into it wither its a enemy's building or not it should protect you from it. If it does go off and you have no protection only your commander should be able to withstand it sound good?

Edit: some building have anti emp tech in their hard drive.

and here is some examples of badass moments lets say a massive fleet of planes threaten to level you so you send a nuke to the atmosphere making them all crash into the ground making a great reclaim site.

Or how bout this the enemy has invested into some pretty powerful laser arty or some weird gismothingie that is epic and you wanted to emp him to evac the planet so you launch a nuke at their base when they realize this its to late and when they get them back online you got out of there with some engineers and went to the moon and rebuilt forces later to strike back :D.

    It's too early for me to decide if I'd like to see nuke-EMP or not, but if it was there there's one thing it needs to do;

    • stunned aircraft need to crash and die.

The one thing that shat me to tears in SupCom was that stunned aircraft magically froze mid-flight.

SupCom aircraft were using UFO technology using enslaved pink flying unicorns, so what the deal?

I know right! Me and Hawk learned that the hard way when we starting messing with the Cybran Nuke xD

    Fixed that for you.

I hate SupCom2 aircraft, so I agree with your fixing.

I think it'd be more interesting to have two different weapons for this. I do agree that aircraft should crash (although maybe not explode by default, they're supposed to be pretty tough) when paralyzed.

Then again, maybe combining the two gives for more awesome. I'm not sure. Should probably give both a test run, see which is more interesting.

I clicked Yes because I think its a cool mechanic :)

But about Aircraft crashing and dying as long as it wasn't a 100% chance that they died then yea.

Maybe you could have it a straight 50% chance that a plane will Die or Survive, The Surviving planes would activate their VTOL as soon as its done and carry on as normal maybe with heavy damage.

If there is going to be any light lore on the Units, you could just say that the A.I on the Aircraft has EM detection and rather than get itself fried it would ditch and risk it rather than certainly die...

I found it when a Medusa accidentally shot a Jester. Great example of the benefits of simulation, but the magic freezing was a bit of a disappointment.

Guess they didn't simulate movement by applying forces. I hope that'll be possible for PA, so that units that get stunned or killed in motion will continue to roll/fly/etc until they come to a natural stop or run into something.

And because you'd be able to have engine overload weapons that would put an engine into full force, charging the enemy forward into your defensive line against their will and other shenanigans like that :)

They do, but the stun function was a magic freeze right where you were command.

Oh, really? That's an interesting choice, then.

An EMP would not be that dangerous for most units. A little bit of hardened systems, a little bit of faraday cages, and the bulk of the damage will simply go around a unit's sensitive components.

Things that an EMP might seriously affect are cloak and certain structures. A sudden EMP could easily pop everything out of cloak for an extremely long range. Power plants in particular would not like being destabilized and might protest by taking extra damage or shutting down temporarily.
